I did win Wedding Chronicles from the author, therefore I read it for free, however i do think the book is well written, like it is quite interesting and as a reader i did quite feel like i was a part of Bobby's journey.

But i did feel like despite the wit and humor of the character some parts of the book were dragged out unnecessary making the book seem longer.

This was different read from a lot of the other books i read and i enjoyed the change. I would definitely recommend Wedding Chronicles to most of my friends if they were looking for a light hearted read.

I won this book through a giveaway here on GoodReads.

I really wanted to like this book, not only because it seemed interesting, but also because the author spent so much time and efforts to trace it, since it seemed lost, and I really wanted to reward him with a good review.

Unfortunately, I cannot do so. I really tried to enjoy it, but I was not able to understand his purpose in all this. The characters were boring and, honestly, sometimes I even felt disgusted by them. Even though he travelled all around the world and he dealt with many different kind of people, I could feel sometimes prejudices and bigotry, not to talk about the machismo. I think this is a book that only Canadian or American people could read, because they are the only ones that could properly understand it. The main character says the he is not ready to get married, but I think that he is just one of those forever irresolute people, unable to make decisions.

I decided to give it 2 stars because the descriptions of the different lifestyles around the world are very interesting.

The writing style is well-built, but in some parts the author uses so much slang that it is almost impossible to understand him for a non native English speaker like me. However, I will not blame him for this, because I am sure that it was due to my partial knowledge of the language.

I am sorry to write a review like this, but this is not a book I would recommend since it communicate me nothing.

Unique funny read

This is a very unique and interesting concept, and a book that is exceptionally well written. Boguslavski has a talent to string words together, such that it's easy and most pleasant reading. His sense of humour is often riotously funny! There's an incredible attention to detail on many aspects of the setting. The descriptions of food and drink got my complete and total attention ... delicious! Having said that, other detailed narratives on items such as wedding party fashion and architecture had much less appeal to me, were a bit much and I wanted to move on. Female readers may well find the bridal fashion angle much more interesting than I did. The inclusion of global current events of the day mixed into the backdrop are thought-provoking and add depth to the overall story. Bottom line ... a great book I thoroughly enjoyed.

A must read book, and more ...

If one were to judge a book by its cover, I would say Wedding Chronicles vol 1 is elegant, fun, quirky, and artistic. And WC1 definitely lives up to its promise. Initially released in August 2013 only in ebook format, the author has expanded the offering to a truly multi-media, multi-dimensional reading experience, complete with extensive music playlists, one for each wedding episode chapter; Pinterest boards for bonus visual effects; and continuing blogs (hopefully with more to come still!) via the book's website.

At first read, I was already captivated by the "easter eggs" sprinkled throughout the book: they are the wide-ranging, cleverly and subtly inserted allusions to matters historical, geopolitical, gastronomical, literary, comic (and comedic), cultural and pop-cultural that kept me laughing, enraptured, contemplating, and wanting more! Intrigued by the below-the-line, above-the-line theory of European culture(#15)? Visit the blog (March 29, 2014)! Curious what a wedding venue near an Iceland glacier (#71) would look like? Visit Pinterest board #4! Want to know the real deal with tasting hakarl and brennivin? Watch the blog video (Feb 14, 2014)! Or want to get a bit more personal and see what some of the characters and BobbyBo's friends might look like (and what Celebrity Cross-Match is all about -#54)? Check out the March 29, 2014 blog! Then, there are the music playlists, which as an unintended bonus of buying book, led me to discovering a few gems which are now on my own playlist! Of course, all these add to, rather than detract from, what is a truly well-written book.

Even in this first book of three, BobbyBo is already showing an ease with language (not just English, to boot), a keen eye for details, and an honest, natural writing style that adroitly complements the lively characters, witty dialogue, and wedding adventures of WC. Whether it be a frank discussion of the geopolitics of the Middle East at an open-air dinner party of a Palestinian wedding on the shores of the Dead Sea (#52), or attendance at the intimate wedding of the author's own sister (#47), or the revelation of some rather surprising cultural "secret traditions" (#70), reading WC-1 is like getting VIP invites to unique wedding experiences (and exotic locales) all over the world (geographically, WC1 has touched base in at least 4/7 continents, and hopefully the sequels in the trilogy will cover even more!) - without being burdened by the agony of choosing and buying wedding gifts!

So, having read and re-read both the ebook and paperback formats of WC1, I could only find myself smiling, and reluctantly putting down the book - just as one would when bidding adieu to a good friend after reminiscing of times past spent together, memories shared, and good food partaken. Assuming WC1 is only the appetizing first taste of what's to come, this reader definitely looks forward to the release of the next volume of WC!

Super Entertaining Read

Bob's adventures in the world of weddings are close to home - for anyone who either is married, been married or contemplating marriage! Beautifully described, with background music to boot, Bob's sometimes offbeat stories, keen wit and fine observations kept me engaged, laughing and sometimes even squirming as I recognized my own experiences in his tellings.

I read the book over a period of time - the stories are individually entertaining and you don't lose the thread as the characters and stories develop. Highly recommended, an easy and entertaining read.

Hilarious, clever and unique!

A hilarious and well written read. Through the life milestone of a series of weddings, Bob Boguslavski, the colourful narrator, takes us on a journey through time and culture, immersing us in the climate of each of his settings. Through his interactions, beginning when he is young, Bob introduces us to a group of lively characters, friends and guests, and these people affect and reflect the man we come to know.

We get to eavesdrop on Bob's conversations as he cleverly and lightly pokes fun at the concept of marriage and provides insightful social commentary. We have all been to weddings. Boguslavski gives us a new and unique perspective. His witty, gritty, and direct style will appeal to both men and women. Read this book. You will laugh yourself silly. Bob is not yet ready to settle down. I look forward to hearing more from him.

I really wanted to like this book because the author provided it to me for free and was very nice about it, but I just found it painfully boring. It was trying to be a sort of sociological look into weddings in different cultures, but it didn't really provide any insight into those cultures, it just showed you dull conversations that happened to occur at those weddings. It was also trying to tell some interesting wedding related stories, and it failed at doing that too.

I also got really annoyed by the borderline asinine level of detail provided about each wedding that the author couldn't possibly have remembered (exact number of guests, as an example) and which no one cares about anyway. He references people that you don't know as if you do, and generally just writes way, WAY too much. There's potential for the book to be decent if it were tightened up a LOT, but until about 50% is cut out, it's just too clunky. I couldn't finish it.

A globetrotter's wedding adventure!

Genre: f(r)iction--"where fact and fiction rub up against each other, and nobody wants to know it regardless"

I was torn between rating Wedding Chronicles a 3 star or 4 star review. Some parts of the book I really enjoyed, and other parts, not so much. In the end, I settled on 3.5 (rounded up to 4 stars when rated on other sites.)

Wedding Chronicles is certainly one of the more eclectic books I've ever read. This work of literature is a collection of wedding adventures experienced first hand by the author himself. With nearly 100 weddings under his belt, Bob is no stranger to attending weddings, having criss-crossed the entire world. From Mexico to California to Europe--Boguslavski has already been there and done that.

In this particular book, the author recounts 13 memorable weddings, each one unique in one way or another. Readers get to learn about how different cultures manage weddings and also the conversations Boguslavski finds himself engaged in are often either humorous/mind-provoking.

However, for any spelling Nazis out there--be warned! There are some pretty innovative spelling of words in Wedding Chronicles. For example, business is spelled bidni$$ and iPhone is spelled iFone. Personally, this didn't bother me and I actually found some of these avant garde spelling of words to be quite witty. Plus, I would like to give bonus points to Mr. Boguslavski for using the word tintinnabulation in his writing. Aside from Edgar Allen Poe's work, I have never seen that word used in literature, which is really a shame since tintinnabulation is such an underrated word!

You can clearly hear the author's voice/personality through his writing. He seems to take everything in life all in stride and is willing to engage in very interesting topics of conversation at weddings.

I think my only major quip with Wedding Chronicles is that several outside references were made and I didn't understand them. (Guess I'm not as pop culture savvy as I would like to be!) However, readers who are more knowledgable in pop culture are sure to chuckle along. (I mean, I did find the references he made to be funny if I knew what Bob was talking about--like Lord of the Rings:-)

With all that being said, DO NOT READ THIS LIKE A NORMAL BOOK. I tried to do that at the beginning (meaning, I sat down, thinking I could finish this book in 1-3 sittings), but it soon became obvious it was not the way to go (at least for me.) This book ought to be read in small chunks (1-3 wedding "chronicles" at a time) to give readers time to mull over what they had just read (topics range from China's rise in global trade to different types of wine to global warming--all topics are complemented with commentaries, courtesy of Boguslavski, of course.) Also, if you're the type of person who enjoys reading stories with a strong plot line, it would probably be best if you read it in smaller chunks as well, as this book is rather like an anthology.

Final thoughts: After reading Wedding Chronicles, I think it's safe to say that my view of the world has definitely been broadened!

I laughed, sniggered, argued, farted in your general direction-eh Bob, zoned out, zoomed in, remembered, relived and connected my various wedding trips. Boguslavski hits nails on heads, goes off on wild tangents, produces more off-the-wall alliterations than Will.I.am and a soundtrack to suit your ever changing mood.

Great book

The main character Bob takes us into an intimate journey to weddings all over the world with great humour, a fine sense of observation, and great social skills. The conversations are funny, savvy, and rarely serious. Delicious book. A must read!
