When it comes to heavy-duty pickups, entertainment may be overlooked sometimes. However, this is not the case for the new 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman. Even as the base model, it has more to offer than other entry-level competitors such as the 2021 Ford F-250 XL.
Â
Featuring the Uconnect 3 multimedia centre, the Ram 2500 Tradesman boasts a 5-inch touchscreen. This interface functions with Bluetooth to bring you hands-free communication and audio streaming. You can make/receive phone calls, send/read text messages, and listen to your favourite songs with no distractions. Keep in mind that you may also add a 1-year subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. This unique service will give you access to 200 commercial-free channels.
Â
On the other hand, the Ford F-250 XL includes the Sync infotainment system. Displayed on a 4.3-inch monitor, this tiny interface does not offer a user-friendly experience. You can’t customize the home menu, and you have to use the buttons or dial to navigate through the functions. Between the two, the Ram is the clear winner of this battle.

Are you looking for the most powerful heavy-duty truck on the market? If you answered yes, then your search is over. The new 2021 Ram 2500 outperforms competitors like the 2021 Ford F-250 SuperDuty by a long shot.
Â
Equipped with a 6.4-litre HEMI VVT V8, the Ram 2500 pumps out a Best-In-Class HP of 410. Meanwhile, it also generates 429 lb-ft o torque. Thanks to the 8-speed automatic transmission and 4WD system, you can haul up to 7,956 kg (17,540 lbs) as is. Adding a 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck package will ramp the maximum towing capacity up even more.
Â
As for the Ford F-250, it houses a slightly smaller 6.2-litre V8 engine. While it can be partnered with a 4WD drivetrain, it only comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This means that the gear shifts won’t be as smooth. Plus, the output is rated at only 395 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It just isn’t as strong as the Ram 2500. The limit for pulling is capped at 5,896 kg (13,000 lbs) which is much lower as well.
