Social customs are often difficult to master, especially while traveling.
Those trekking through Los Suenos may find themselves uncertain of what to do - even with such a simple act as tipping. Is it required? Is it expected?
According to Frommer’s, the answer to both of these questions is no.
Tipping is not a general custom in the Central Pacific. Due to the high national taxes, Los Suenos goods do not require extra compensation. Travelers instead may use their discretion, choosing to reward exemplary service if they wish. There is no policy in regards to amount (though using local currency is strongly recommended).
