Costa Rica is a wet country, shaped by oceans and canals. It’s an endless stretch of shoreline and travelers arrive each year to experience it.
Those same travelers may find themselves hesitating to enter the water, however, once they arrive. They may instead wonder if it’s safe.
It is.
Costa Rica - especially the Central Pacific region, which includes Los Suenos and Jaco - is noted for its quality beaches. The currents remain steady throughout the year, and protective reefs help to curtail any undertows or harsh breaks. The marine life is mostly harmless, with any predator fish hiding themselves away from the coast. This creates a suitable environment for swimming, surfing, kayaking and more.
It should be noted that most Los Suenos beaches do not feature life-guards. Travelers must, therefore, be aware of their surroundings and the conditions of every current. Do this to ensure safety for the entire family.
