Did you know that, according to the Institute for Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis, approximately 70% of vehicle to pedestrian accidents occur during nighttime hours? It’s no secret that driving becomes more difficult in the dark, but while we can’t control the rise and setting of the sun, Nissan’s luxury brand has made it their mission to improve visibility in the evening.
The proprietary Adaptive Front Lighting System, as seen on the 2018 INFINITI QX30, is a highly intelligent headlamp feature that aids to minimize incidents post daylight by intuitively controlling the distribution of rays.
The AFS automatically adjust low beams based on operator input variables such as vehicle speed and steering wheel angles. For example, when driving on a winding road, AFS will adapt the beacon pattern in order to compensate for the curvature of the road. This ensures that the beam is always directed on your path. Meanwhile, taking cues from signal switch usage, at crossroads, AFS will illuminate the chosen course of travel.
Enhanced visibility can help to reduce the occurrence of collisions, and INFINITI automakers are consistently striving to engineer the latest and greatest of technology to assist drivers.
