These work through electro-chromism, and consist of two outer layers that are conductors, an ion storage system, electrolytes, and the electrochromic process.
When voltage is applied to mirror, ions migrate across the electrolyte section and into the electro-chromic layer. This makes it become darker, thereby reducing the light that can pass through and be reflected back to the driver. Neat, right?
