Using the latest 3D mapping technology and the 2019 INFINITI QX50, a group of paleontologists set out across the Gobi Desert in Mongolia to find fossils. Nearly 100 years ago, the world-renowned explorer and archaeologist, Roy Chapman Andrews, took motorized vehicles out into this barren land for the first time. This led him to discover dinosaur eggs that had been petrified over time.
Fast-forward to June 2018! An assembly of multidisciplinary professionals from the Hong Kong chapter of The Explorers Club partnered with INFINITI and the Institute of Paleontology and Geology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (IPG) to reforge the path of that groundbreaking expedition. Led by Dr. Scott Nowicki from Quantum Spatial, the team utilized thermal and drone-powered multispectral cameras to optimize their hunt.
The search spanned over 20 days and tuned up 250 hot locations containing hundreds of bones. Some may be from mammals that we never knew existed until now. The 35 group members were supplied with a fleet of brand new INFINITI SUVs including the QX50, QX60, and QX80.
The compact QX50 was a crew favorite due to its versatility and ability to dart around obstacles. Want to try one out for yourself? Contact our dealership in Fife, Washington to schedule a test drive today!Â
