Most Common Nissan Vehicle Questions In Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
new 2018 nissan sentra for sale in issaquah kirkland washingtonHi Robert,

I'll be spending a few months in Europe this year for business. Do you think I should get a trickle charger to make sure my 2018 Nissan Sentra’s battery doesn't go flat? If so, how would I set it up?

Thanks,
Christopher

Hi, Christopher!

If your battery isn't going to be used for a few months it will start to discharge. With this in mind, it would be a good idea to fit a trickle charger to your 2018 Nissan Sentra while you’re away.

The best type to go for is one with a built in regulator. This will match your battery’s discharge rate, ensuring the power always stays at a constant level.

Attaching a trickle charger is an easy process. First, you need to make sure that your vehicle is parked in a well-ventilated location which is free from rain. Then you should turn your Sentra’s ignition off and remove the key.

Make sure the amperage and voltage levels on the trickle charger are set to match your vehicle’s battery before you connect anything.

A trickle charger has two alligator clips, you need to connect the positive one to the matching battery terminal. Then, clasp the negative to a bare piece of metal: the car’s frame is a good option. Finally, you can plug the unit into a regular power outlet and switch it on.

Thanks for the question, Christopher. Contact Kirkland Nissan, Washington again if you need anything else.
new 2018 nissan armada for sale burien kirkland washingtonDear Robert,

I’ve just bought a new 2018 Nissan Armada. It’s fantastic having such a big engine and so many entertainment and safety features. But I’m worried all this will put an excessive strain on the battery. How will I know if it’s dying?

Thanks,
Billy

Hi, Billy!

I’ll start by saying, as long as you’re following the Armada’s recommended maintenance guidelines, there’s really nothing to worry about. But below are a few things which would indicate you may have a problem with your battery.

It takes a lot of power to get your Armada’s engine started: if you hear it cranking slowly when you try to get it running, there’s a good chance your battery is on its last legs.

In addition to starting your vehicle’s engine, the battery also has to power all of its electrical components. So, if any of these parts start to malfunction, this could also indicate a problem.

Finally, if it has shorted or been overcharged your battery may vent gas. This will smell like rotten eggs and come from under the hood of your car. So if you notice this or any of the signs mentioned above, you should call into our Service Department and let our technicians have a look.

Thanks for the question, Billy! Don’t hesitate to contact us again should you need to.
new 2018 nissan altima for sale in bothell kirkland washingtonHi Robert,

I was recently abroad for a couple of months with work. When I got back, I had a hard time getting my 2018 Nissan Altima running: thankfully it was alright in the end. But I realized that I have no idea how to jump-start a car. Could you walk me through the process?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi, Brian!

Have no fear: this is a pretty straightforward process. First, you’ll need to have a set of jump leads and another car with a relatively good battery.

Place both vehicles in park or neutral and shut the ignitions off. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal of the battery in your Nissan Altima. Then repeat the process with the other car.

Next, place one of the black clips on the negative terminal of the good Samaritan's battery. Then, put the other on an unpainted metal surface in your Altima's engine bay (one of the struts which hold the hood open would be a fine option). Sstart the working car and let it run for a few minutes.

Finally, try to start your vehicle. If it doesn’t work, check to make sure you have connected everything properly and let the other car run for a few more minutes.

Thanks for the question, Brian. Contact Kirkland Nissan, Washington if you ever need anything else.
