Hi Robert,

My father recently purchased a new 2018 Nissan Titan XD with a diesel engine. Heâ€™s never used this type of fuel before and is worried about accidentally putting gasoline in when heâ€™s filling up. What should he do if this happens?

This is a great question as there's a lack of awareness in the U.S. about what to do in this situation. If your father puts the wrong type of fuel in his 2018 Nissan Titan XDÂ he will need to follow the advice below.

If this happens, your father should call a recovery service and get the vehicle drained by a professional. Itâ€™s important to do this as quickly as possible because the diesel/gasoline mixture will act as a solvent. The longer itâ€™s left in his Titan XD, the more it will corrode and damage parts of the fuel system, like the pump for example.

Iâ€™ve been toying with the idea of getting a sports car recently and the new 2018 Nissan 370Z has caught my eye. I noticed that it's rear-wheel drive and it seems most high-performance vehicles are configured this way. Could you explain why this is?

If youâ€™re thinking of getting into the world of performance vehicles, itâ€™s hard to beat the 2018 Nissan 370Z in terms of pure driving pleasure. You would be correct in your assessment that most sports cars are rear-wheel drive (RWD), and there are some good reasons for them to be.

A RWD system allows you to spread the vehicleâ€™s drivetrain more evenly over the length of the car, making it easier to achieve 50/50 weight distribution. This improves the modelâ€™s balance which plays a big part in handling.

Donâ€™t worry about it, changing the tire on your 2018 NissanÂ Rogue Sport really isnâ€™t a big deal. If you do get a flat, pull over to a safe location, turn your hazards on, and apply the parking brake. Then use wheel wedges if you have them.

After this, you can loosen the lug nuts with a wrench by twisting counterclockwise, but donâ€™t take them off completely. Then place a jack under the carâ€™s frame next to where your flat is. After you have positioned it correctly, raise the vehicle up.Â

Now you can fully unscrew the nuts and take off the wheel. Next, you can mount your spare tire on the lug bolts.

Finally, tighten the nuts back on by twisting clockwise. After this, lower your vehicle to the ground.

Before you set off, make sure all the lug nuts are tight and everything is secure.

It's never good to run out of wiper fluid, but winter is an especially bad time. Donâ€™t worry though, topping up your 2018 Nissan TitanÂ will be a piece of cake.

Firstly, park your truck on a level surface and pop its hood. Then, you'll need to find the reservoir: it's usually a translucent container and has a windshield/water symbol on the cap.

Take the cap off the reservoir and pour your windshield washer fluid in. Keep going until you reach the fill line on the container.

Next, put the cap back on the container and press down until it pops into place. Lastly, clean off any liquid which may have spilled in your engine bay and close your hood.

Itâ€™s important to only use windshield washer fluid for this, as it has an antifreeze agent in it ensuring itâ€™ll continue to flow even through winter.

It's pretty easy to keep everything running smoothly on an electric car. In fact, they require less maintenance than internal combustion engineÂ vehicles. But there are a couple of things you can do to increase a battery's lifespan.

The first thing you should keep in mind is to avoid fully charging the battery unless itâ€™s necessary, as doing so will reduce its lifespan. Ideally, you should stop once you've reached 80% of its capacity.

You should also try to not let the battery get too low; when this happens, it's known as a deep discharge. Anything below 30% would fall into this bracket.

The LEAFâ€™s fuel indicator has 12 bars, so you should always try to keep this showing something between 10 and two. If you follow this tip, you'll extend the vehicle's battery life. But itâ€™s not the end of the world if it falls outside of this range every so often.
