Dear Robert,
I’m thinking of changing my current car: we've just added a new member to our family and want something more spacious. Naturally, I need a vehicle which would protect us in the event of an accident. How safe is the 2018 Nissan Rogue?
Thanks,
Charlotte
Hi, Charlotte!
Congratulations on the latest addition to your family. According to tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2018 Rogue is safer than almost any other vehicle Nissan produce.
The IIHS labeled the 2018 Rogue as one of their top safety picks. This vehicle scored the highest marks in tests relating to its head restraints and seats, roof strength, and driver-side crashworthiness.
This model has the Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield system which monitors your proximity to the vehicle in front of you. This feature will send audible and visual warnings to the driver if it senses that there may be a collision.
The 2018 Rogue also has an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system as standard. If this feature detects that a collision is imminent, it will apply the brakes to avoid or mitigate an accident with another vehicle or a pedestrian.
Thanks for your question, Charlotte! Why not call into Kirkland Nissan, Washington and test drive the 2018 Rogue for yourself?

Hi Robert,
I’m thinking of buying a new 2018 Nissan Titan. My current vehicle is small and a few years old, so I’m wondering how this upgrade would affect my insurance premium.
Thanks,
Logan
Hi, Logan!
Wow, going from your current car to the 2018 Nissan Titan will be a great upgrade! As to your question, the short answer is yes. The type of truck you drive will affect your insurance premium; factors like theft rate, cost of repairs, purchase price, and the number of accidents which have been recorded in that vehicle will all be taken into consideration.
But the type of truck you drive is just one of the numerous things which are taken into account. The list below shows some of the other factors insurance companies will consider before giving you a quote:
   • Your age
   • Where you live
   • Gender
   • Your driving record and experience
   • Marital status
   • What your credit history is
   • If you have made previous claims
   • The annual mileage you’ll cover
The insurer will also take into consideration what you're going to be doing with your vehicle. If you'll be commuting in it, for example, the premium would be cheaper than if you'd be using it for work.

Hi Robert,
I’m thinking of upgrading to a 2019 Nissan Rogue next year. I’m just wondering if I can connect my phone to this SUV so I never have to handle it while I’m driving.
Thanks,
Ava
Hi, Ava!
It’s great to see someone being so proactive about road safety. The 2019 Nissan Rogue has multiple hands-free features which mean that you'll never need to touch your phone once you enter the vehicle.
You can wirelessly connect your smartphone to this model and view your texts and calls on its 7-inch color touch-screen monitor.
Making a call is as easy as hitting a couple of buttons on the steering wheel. You could also be totally hands-free and do it through a few simple voice commands.
Should anyone phone you while you're on the move, you'll see their ID on the screen and know who it is instantly. There are a variety of ringtones to choose from so you can pick one that's to your liking.
The Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant feature on this model reads anything you receive in your inbox out loud, so you never have to take your eyes off the road.
Thanks for the question, Ava! Why not call down to Kirkland Nissan, Washington and test drive the 2019 Rogue for yourself?

Hi Robert,
I’m happy to say I’ve just started working for a new company. Unfortunately, now I have to make a 30-mile commute each way in my 2018 Nissan Sentra. Do you have any tips on how to improve my gas mileage?
Thanks,
Emma
Hi, Emma!
Congratulations on the new job! There are a number of things you can do to ensure you won’t be spending too much of your earnings on gas for your 2018 Nissan Sentra.
Most people accelerate unnecessarily quickly and burn a lot of fuel in the process. Get up to speed gradually and watch your mpg figures increase as a result.
You should also try not to apply the brakes unless it's necessary. Every time your Sentra slows down, you use fuel to bring its speed back up afterward. Leave enough distance between your vehicle and the car in front so that you can maintain a steady pace: this will certainly increase your gas mileage.
Finally, you should clear out any unnecessary items from your trunk and back seat. If you’re carrying around an extra 50 pounds everywhere you go, it puts extra stress on your engine and really starts to add up.
Thanks for the question, Emma! Don’t hesitate to get in touch with Kirkland Nissan, Washington again.Â

Dear Robert,
When I learned how to drive, no one explained how to use the brakes in a way that would extend their life. I want to make them last as long as possible on my new 2018 Nissan Kicks. Do you have any tips on achieving this?
Thanks,
James
Hi, James!
It’s true that, while many people know how to be frugal with their fuel, they don’t know how to make their brakes last. The tips below will help ensure you get the most out of them on your 2018 Nissan Kicks.
Using the brakes to slow down from high speeds is definitely something to avoid. It requires about one third more energy to stop from 65 mph rather than 55 mph. So shaving off just 10 mph before applying them can significantly increase their lifespan.
When approaching your exit on a highway, let off the gas in advance and use this to slow down. After this, apply the brakes to bring you to a complete stop. If you make this a habit, it will add a few extra miles to the life of your pads.
You should also only use your right foot to apply the brakes. People who use their left often leave it covering the pedal and end up accidentally pushing it while simultaneously accelerating. This will cause excessive wear and tear on your pads and reduce your fuel economy.
Thanks for the question, James! Don’t hesitate to contact Kirkland Nissan, Washington again!
