new 2018 nissan altima for sale in bothell kirkland washington

Hi Robert,

I was recently abroad for a couple of months with work. When I got back, I had a hard time getting my 2018 Nissan Altima running: thankfully it was alright in the end. But I realized that I have no idea how to jump-start a car. Could you walk me through the process?

Hi, Brian!

Have no fear: this is a pretty straightforward process. First, youâ€™ll need to have a set of jump leads and another car with a relatively good battery.

Place both vehicles in park or neutral and shut the ignitions off. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal of the battery in your Nissan Altima. Then repeat the process with the other car.

Next, place one of the black clips on the negative terminal of the good Samaritan's battery. Then, put the other on an unpainted metal surface in your Altima's engine bay (one of the struts which hold the hood open would be a fine option). Sstart the working car and let it run for a few minutes.

Finally, try to start your vehicle. If it doesnâ€™t work, check to make sure you have connected everything properly and let the other car run for a few more minutes.

There is no doubt in my mind that the 2018 Nissan GT-R would satisfy even the biggest adrenaline junkieâ€™s need for speed. There should be a picture of this model when you look up â€˜sports carâ€™ in a dictionary: its performance figures are simply mind-blowing.

At the heart of this beast lies a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Nissanâ€™s engineers have managed to squeeze 565 horsepower and 467 lb.-ft of torque out of the standard model.

From a standing start, 60 mph will come up in just 2.7 seconds, thanks to this carâ€™s launch control system. But the fun doesnâ€™t stop there. Keep your foot down and this model will reach a top speed of 196 mph.

Not only does this the GT-R get up to speed remarkably quickly, but it also stops faster than almost any other car available right now. Its Brembo calipers will bring everything to a standstill in just 102 feet from 60 mph.

Donâ€™t feel bad! The rise in popularity of cars like the 2018 Nissan LEAF has brought a lot of new measurements and concepts. MPGe stands for â€œmiles per gallon (gasoline) equivalentâ€ and it's how we compare the efficiency of internal combustion engined automobiles against electric vehicles.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has rated one gallon of gasoline as containing 115,000 BTUs of energy. This equates to 33.7 kilowatt-hours (kWh), which is what the battery packs in electric vehicles are measured in. Since we know how the values relate, we can accurately judge how efficient they are comparatively.

The 2018 Nissan Versa, for example, returns 31.05 mpg. So, for every 31.05 miles you travel, youâ€™ll have used one gallon of gas.

The 2018 Nissan LEAF, alternatively, gets 112 MPGe. So after youâ€™ve traveled 112 miles, youâ€™ll have used 33.7 kWh of energy.

Bothell: What Benefit Do You Get From The Diesel Engine in Your 2018 Nissan Titan XD?

Iâ€™ve decided to upgrade to a new 2018 Nissan Titan XD. I know this model is available with a diesel engine, but I have no experience with this type of fuel. Could you tell me some of its benefits?

Hi, Tom!

This is an excellent question and one which isn't discussed nearly enough in Washington. A diesel powered engine is fantastic for heavy duty work, meaning itâ€™s perfectly suited to the Titan XD.

Diesel engines have a much higher compression ratio than gas ones. This results in far more torque being produced low down in the RPMs - hence the reason theseÂ powerplants are often used in machinery which is required to pull heavy loads.

Not only do these engines produce more power at lower ratios, but they also return better mpg due to their higher energy contents.

While diesel vehicles are usually more expensive to buy, they generally have a longer lifespan than traditional vehicles. Of course, you will still need to keep on top of maintenance.Â
