Seattle, Nissan is Giving Back to Those Impacted by the Northern California and Northern LA Wildfires

cabin filter replacements seattle washingtonWith the ongoing wildfires in Northern California and Northern Los Angeles, Nissan is giving back to those in need by offering free in-cabin microfilter replacements for customers impacted by the disaster. This complimentary service, which includes labor for installation and inspection, is being offered until January 31, 2019, at over 50 Nissan dealerships.
 
“We are heartbroken by the devastation of these wildfires and want to help those who have been affected in some way,” said Kevin Wagstaff, Regional VP, Nissan North America in a press release. “We can only hope this offer of a free in-cabin microfilter replacement provides some relief as communities begin to rebuild.” 
 
It’s very important for Nissan owners impacted by the wildfires to have their vehicles inspected and to replace the in-cabin microfilters. This is a key component since its job is to clean the air entering the cabin by trapping pollen, bacteria, dust and exhaust gases. If left untouched, it could compromise the car’s interior air quality. 
 
The automaker has also committed to performing free multi-point inspections on Nissan vehicles brought in for in-cabin microfilter replacements, along with deferring payment options and providing employee pricing on new vehicles for Northern California and Northern Los Angeles residents affected by the wildfires.

Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Announces $1 Billion Venture Capital Automotive Fund to Benefit Seattle, World

The world’s premier automotive partnership, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, announced this week the launch of Alliance Ventures. It stands as a new fund determined to invest as much as $1 billion into industry innovation over the course of the next five years.



The venture capital fund’s first year is expected to bring the investment of approximately $200 million in various promising start-ups that focus on the advancement of worldwide mobility, artificial intelligence (AI), and autonomous systems. By the “midterm” period of the company’s plan—2022—Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi expects to have the largest corporate endowment of its type.


Alliance Ventures will first invest in US-based Ionic Materials. That company is currently dedicated to the development of solid-state, cobalt-free battery materials that could find future use in such Nissan EVs as the zero-emissions LEAF. The 2018 version of that vehicle is set to deliver an all-electric output of 147 HP and 236-lb.-ft. of torque with a driving range of 150 miles on a single charge.

In the mood for a fun 3D experience? Actually, a better question: down for a Star Wars interactive web extravaganza? Yup—we thought so! And that’s exactly what Nissan has delivered with their “Command Your Craft” offering.

Available on NissanUSA.com/StarWars, the experience is entirely gesture-based and lets players take control of The Last Jedi-inspired vehicles crafted directly by the Japanese manufacturer. Want to fight the bad guys? Represent as Poe Dameron and hop into a BB-8-loaded X-wing (the 2018 Rogue). Feeling a little mischievous, and, well, “evil” today? Embrace the Dark Side as Kylo Ren in his TIE Silencer (2018 Maxima). You can use your hands to raise, rotate, and summon on-screen cars.


The breakthrough Star Wars 3D experience utilizes Google’s TensorFlow. The software library is open-source and wields machine learning to recognize and categorize images. It’s cutting-edge, just in time for The Last Jedi, and perfect to use for representing cars like the 2018 Maxima. That vehicle offers suitably futuristic performance, providing 50-to-70 mph passing power in a class-leading 3.8 seconds (wow)! And when you need to make a quick stop, you can go from that top speed down to a standstill in only 178 feet.
