Outside of Norway, the same triumph is being felt across the UK, making the Nissan Leaf the best-selling electric vehicle with more than 40,000 units sold across the continent. More than 380,000 Nissan Leaf vehicles also have been sold globally since the model went on sale in 2010, with over 128,000 sold in the U.S.

nissan leaf e+ design news seattle tacoma kirkland washingtonNissan went to great lengths to make the new Leaf e+ the most innovative, powerful and tech-rich all-electric vehicle on mainstream roads today. Starting around the front, the e+ boasts a contoured silhouette and eye-catching exterior elements for greater styling and aerodynamic efficiency. The EV's bold fascia features Nissan's signature V-Motion grille with a blue 3D mesh insert for added interest and form. The car's streamlined profile is also sleek and sporty, while around the back the Leaf e+ wears a distinctive taillight design and new badging to highlight the various trim levels.

Inside, the e+’s cabin takes all that’s good from the current model year Leaf and further enhances it with vibrant blue contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats and instrument panel. The interior remains spacious and well-appointed with premium features for a high-class appeal, but with a tech-focused attitude that’s tastefully futuristic.

nissan leaf e+ news in seattle washingtonFollowing the news of Nissan’s forthcoming Leaf e+ electric vehicle, which will launch later this spring, our team wanted to take the opportunity to share more about the EV’s enhanced driver assist and safety features. If you were hoping to see ProPILOT Assist and e-Pedal on the e+, good news – both are standard equipment, along with other advanced technologies.

ProPILOT Assist is a key player in Nissan’s Intelligent Driving strategy. This system is described as an in-lane semi-autonomous driving technology that can automatically adjust the distance to the vehicle ahead or help keep the Leaf centered in its lane. If the car in front stops, ProPILOT Assist will automatically apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a halt – it will even keep the vehicle in place if the driver’s foot is off the brake. When traffic restarts, the e+ will resume when the driver touches the steering wheel-mounted ProPILOT Assist switch again or lightly presses the accelerator. The goal of the system is to reduce stress when behind the wheel, especially in high-traffic situations.

Further enhancing the Leaf's on-road experience is e-Pedal, which allows the driver to start, accelerate, decelerate and stop using only the accelerator pedal. With the e+’s additional power and increased mass, Nissan reprogrammed the e-Pedal software for smoother operation and enhanced pedal feedback, which is especially beneficial when maneuvering the vehicle in reverse. Other advanced technologies on the e+ will include Intelligent Lane Intervention, Lane Departure Warning and Intelligent Emergency Braking, as well as Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Intelligent Around View Monitor.

2019 nissan leaf e+ in seattle tacoma bellevue washingtonThis week, Nissan lifted the cover off some huge news. The automaker will be releasing the Leaf e+ later this year and it will sport an all-new electric powertrain with additional range and power.

The name “e+” refers to the EV’s increased energy density from the model's 62 kWh battery pack and the higher output of its powertrain. Combined, the e+ can travel up to 226 miles on a single charge, which is a big increase over the current model’s 150-mile range. Three trims will be made available: S PLUS, SV PLUS and SL PLUS.

The higher capacity battery will also be complemented by a more potent 160 kW motor, which will produce 45 percent more power and 250 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration will be quicker too, jetting from 50 mph to 75 mph nearly 13 percent faster. According to Nissan, top speeds will increase by approximately 10 percent, making way for more comfortable highway cruising. As for charging, it will be managed by a new 70 kW Quick Charge System, which won’t require any additional time over the current model, even with the 55-percent larger battery storage capacity.

U.S. sales of the Leaf e+ are expected to begin in spring 2019. For more information, contact us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington.
Earlier last year, the racy Nissan Leaf NISMO RC was unveiled at the annual NISMO Festival at the Fuji International Speedway in Japan – and now, North Americans will finally get a taste of the car's glory with its first appearance overseas. Next week, Nissan will have the Leaf NISMO RC on display at CES 2019, along with other all-electric platforms as part of their new vehicle introduction.

The first-generation Leaf NISMO RC was initially released in 2011, but this latest rendition builds upon the vehicle’s electric powertrain to provide even more power and torque. The second-gen model now boasts a motor on both the front and rear axle for all-wheel drive capabilities that create 322 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. Power is generated from a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack, which is mounted in the middle of the car. Weighing in at only 2690 lbs, the Leaf NISMO RC sports a multitude of lightweight components and a carbon fiber body for 50 percent faster performance than the previous model. In just 3.4 seconds, this track star can reach speeds of 62 mph, which is incredible.

Only days remain until CES 2019 kicks off in Las Vegas! To follow the excitement, be sure to check back to our blog as more details are revealed.

According to a press release, the automaker is planning a display that demonstrates the future of driving and the electrifying potential of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which is the company's vision for moving people to a better world.

Due to its lighter chassis made from carbon fiber, the Leaf can hit speeds of 62 mph in only 3.4 seconds. Incredible!

Industry insiders are also speculating that Nissan will debut a new vehicle introduction at CES 2019, which some are saying will be the longer-range variant of the Nissan Leaf. The automaker hasn’t confirmed this report, but it is believed that the EV will be powered by a bigger, more powerful 60-kWh battery, which will extend the Leaf’s range from 150 miles to somewhere in the 200-mile range.

2019 nissan leaf for sale in tacoma kirkland bellevue renton washingtonWorld’s best-selling. Earth-loving. Electric-driving. All three terms are ways to describe the 2019 Nissan Leaf. But, we can add another phrase to the list as well – and that’s award-winning. Drive.com.au recently announced its winners for their Car of the Year Awards and the Leaf zipped off with the coveted Car of the Year Green Innovation honor.

Comprised of a panel of seven expert judges, Drive.com.au acknowledged the Leaf for its abilities beyond its plug and play capabilities – specifically, the capacity for the EV’s battery to deliver energy back into the household grid.

"There are significant advantages in driving an electric car, but the Nissan Leaf takes those benefits beyond the driving experience with the ability to save money when it's in the driveway," said Andrew Maclean, editor in chief of the Drive Network in a press release. "The Nissan Leaf-to-Home function makes the electric car more appealing than ever."

Leaf-to-Home technology makes it possible to store surplus solar power in the battery during the daytime and then use it to power the home in the evening. Drivers can also recharge the battery in the middle of the night, when prices are typically more affordable, then use the electricity during the day to reduce energy costs. Leaf-to-Home also enables the EV to meet typical household electricity needs for up to two days if the power is disrupted. In emergency situations, this could prove very useful.

Aside from its uses off the road, the 2019 Leaf certainly provides a top-shelf driving experience. The powertrain boasts a 110 kW electric motor and a 40 kWh Lithium-ion battery for a 150-mile range. With its dynamic design and advanced technologies, including ProPILOT Assist and ePedal, the Leaf continues to give Seattle drivers even more compelling reasons to make the switch to plug-in power for greater efficiency and zero-emission performance.

To go for a spin in this award-winning model, contact Kirkland Nissan to book a test drive today.
2019 nissan leaf best price seattle tacoma washingtonIf you’ve been following news about the 2019 Leaf all-electric vehicle, you may remember hearing speculation earlier this year about the plug-in receiving a larger battery and range at some point in the near future. The Drive recently published an article about this topic this week and according to their sources, a German publication has reportedly attained the new larger battery’s specifications.

At the moment, the 2019 Leaf is equipped with a 40-kWh battery for a range of 150 miles. Based on The Drive’s research, this is on the shorter side when it comes to all-electric range distances, but not for long. According to the German site, Electrive, a Leaf E-Plus is expected for 2019 and will include a 60-kWh battery for a total range of approximately 220 miles. Charging times should be comparable with the current model too.

The enhanced powertrain is reportedly a $6,580 USD premium over the base 40-kWh Leaf, bring the total cost of the vehicle to around $36,500 USD.

More details about the Leaf E-Plus are expected to be announced at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. Be sure to check back to our blog in the New Year, as our team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle is paying close attention to this developing story.

The first-gen model featured a single electric motor with 107 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, along with rear-wheel drive. The latest rendition now boasts a motor on both the front and rear axle for all-wheel drive capabilities to create 322 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. Power is generated from a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the mid-ship position of the car.

According to the press release, the 2,690-lb carbon fiber monocoque racer is capable of hitting 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, making it 50 percent faster than the previous car. The second-gen model Leaf Nismo RC is also slightly longer than the original and sports a Nissan V-motion grille up front. An adjustable rear wing can also customize the ideal downforce on the tarmac for the utmost in track performance.
