One of the biggest shifts in the auto industry has been toward more environmentally-friendly vehicles. With the cost of fuel hitting record-breaking heights, gasoline-powered cars are starting to lose their appeal. For ladies living in the big city or commuting to work every day, sitting in traffic burning fuel is frivolous. That's hard-earned money going out of the exhaust pipe. You could have spent that on a new pair of shoes.
Engineers at Nissan have come up with a solution. The 2016 Leaf SL is a top-of-the-line model that runs entirely on electricity. It has a range of 107 miles, so you won’t need to fill up the tank because there isn't one. Powered by an 80-kW motor that is coupled with a 30 kWh battery pack, this nifty innovation produces 107 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque.
It comes with a 6.6 kW cable that is compatible with any 240-V energy source. All you have to do is plug it in. It can replenish up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. A full charge will take about eight hours, so you can leave it hooked up overnight.
