Winter often proves a disastrous month for the automotive world - sending drivers scurrying into their homes, keeping them from both the highways and the dealerships. The threat of snow undermines every sale.

In February, however, Nissan managed to defy the season - with its 2018 Frontier achieving strong year-to-year growth. This pick-up fleet (which includes the S, SV, SL, and PRO-4X) rose to the top of the charts in Seattle and beyond.

As a recent Nissan press release explains, the 2018 Frontier generated 7,992 units last month. When compared to 2017â€™s 4,736 units, this marks an improvement of 68.8% - an impressive feat in the middle of a dreary winter. Combined with the brandâ€™s other top-sellers (the Rogue, Titan, and Murano), this pick-up helped to deliver a record-breaking February.

February proved to be the month of the crossover - with Nissanâ€™s venerable Rogue delivering record-breaking results in Seattle. This platform (anchored by the S, SV, and SL trims) dominated the charts and helped to spur the brand past its competitors. The new year has begun with a sales bang.

According to Nissan, the 2018 Rogue experienced exceptional year-to-year growth - earning 38,119 total units for February. This marked a 15% increase from 2017 (33,149 total units); and it set a new record for both the model and the month. Winter was no deterrent for Seattle drivers, with all of them flocking to dealerships to secure this SUV.

Since the beginning of the year, rumors have been swirling about the possibility of Nissan releasing an all-new Terra vehicle. And recently, those suspicions were confirmed when the automaker shared a statement announcing the arrival of the Terra in China this spring.

The SUV will be the first vehicle from Nissan's Frame and LCV Division to launch under the company's mid-term plan, Nissan M.O.V.E. 2022 - an initiative that the automaker hopes will make them a global leader in pick-ups and frame-based SUVs.Â

At the moment, little is known about theÂ all-wheel driveÂ Terra, but automotive watchers are speculating that it will feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 184 horsepower. It's designed to be practical and authentic with a rugged "go anywhere" attitude.

Come April, Nissan will release further information about the Terra, which is expected to launch in Asian markets after its China release. Will the Terra make its way to North American soil? It's too early to know, but we will be following this story very closely.

Nissan is back with another exciting collaboration with the legendary Hollywood automotive fabricators at Vehicle Effects â€“ the same designers that created the seven "Star Wars: The Last Jediâ€-inspired cars at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.Â

But this time, Nissan didnâ€™t reveal â€œThe Forceâ€ â€“ they unveiled a trio of 2018 Leaf concept cars, inspired by â€œA Wrinkle in Time.â€ This collaboration celebrates the automakerâ€™s partnership with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, which produced the film.Â

These one-of-a-kind Leaf vehicles use advanced LED technology to create a mesmerizing light show effect similar to the one seen in the movie. With breakthrough technology being a key part of the storyline, collaborating with the Nissan Leaf was a natural fit. After all, the cornerstone of the Leaf EV is the inclusion of revolutionary technologies, like ProPilot, which relieves the stresses of highway driving for motorists. Â

According to CarScoops, all three modified Nissan Leafs use design elements inspired by the extravagant costumes worn by the film's characters, including Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling) and Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon). Custom touch-sensitive screens covering the windshield and side windows also act as a stage for the interactive light show, which mimics the "wrinkle" effect from the movie. Additionally, the concept cars are equipped with heat-sensing cameras that track and react to approaching users.

Unfortunately for Disney fans, these Leaf show vehicles are not for sale. However, they do celebrate a new world of technology, which can be found on stock 2018 Leaf models.

By now, you've heard all of the amazing things that the Nissan Leaf can do: it eliminates gas costs with its plug-in performance, it can drive 150 miles on a single charge, and it can even let motorists accelerate, decelerate and stop their car by using the accelerator pedal alone. "We're optimistic," said Fiedler in a press release. "As part of the tests, I've already travelled over 4,000 kilometers in Poland in a Nissan Leaf, and I'm positively surprised by the driving range offered."

Apart from being the first ever EV journey across the African continent, the expedition also aims to raise awareness of plug-in technologies that are now available to the masses. The goal is to show consumers that they have a choice - all of which has a great impact on the earth and our environment.

Is Nissan Getting Closer to Launching Their Easy Ride Mobility Service in Seattle?

At the end of 2017, we shared news about one of Nissan's latest concepts called Easy Ride. Together with their partner, DeNA Company, Ltd., the innovators have been working tirelessly to launch a new robo-vehicle mobility service that uses autonomous driving technologies.

Well, it appears that Nissan and DeNA are getting closer to having their dream become a reality. Just last week, it was announced that field testing of the Easy Ride concept is set to begin on March 5, 2018, in Japan's Minatomirai district of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

During the trial, participants will be able to travel in vehicles equipped with autonomous driving technologiesÂ along a set route, which runs 4.5 kilometers between Nissan's Global Headquarters and the Yokohama World Porters Shopping Center. Using a dedicated mobile app, participants will be able to input their desired activity using text or voice and choose from a list of recommended destinations. An in-car tablet will show selections of nearly 500 recommended places of interest and events within the vicinity, and provide exclusive money-saving coupons.Â

In return, participants must complete a survey about their overall user experience, thoughts about the content and coupon offerings, as well as preferred pricing for the Easy Ride service. Nissan and DeNA will then use these results to further develop the concept for additional field tests or launch time.

There's still no set date as to when Easy Ride will hit the global stage, but as news is released, we'll be sure to share more on our blog.
