The expectations were low - with Wall Street wizards peering into their crystal balls, sighing at the hazy numbers they found. Ford, they predicted, would fail to impress in the marketplace, earning middling sales and weak consumer interest.

With the release of the 2017 F-150, however, these speculations proved little more than smoke.


According to CNBC, Ford has far exceeded every Wall Street analysis - earning a staggering $39.9 billion in revenue for the year (compared to the expected $37.1 billion). This number was achieved by both a lowered tax rate and the strong sales of the F-150, which rose 7% from 2016. This marks the best second-quarter results for the Big Blue Oval since 2001.

November proved a month of revelations - with Ford allowing drivers to peer behind the proverbial curtain to catch a glimpse of its production lines. On those lines sat a series of F-150 performers and Super Duty powerhouses, each primed for 2017. The Go Further future is almost here.

According to Ford Authority, the pick-up market will soon experience a boom of F-Series capability. New concept builds for the F-150, F-250, F-350, Raptor, and Super Duty have been released - and each promises incredible off-road adaptability and long-haul strength. These trucks were first displayed at the 2016 SEMA event and they’ve since made their ways out of Las Vegas (and onto the highways for testing).

According to Torque News, Ford is mulling a new engine for its 2020 F-150. A 4.8L V8 powertrain is now being considered, with the brand wishing to revitalize its signature truck. By delivering a new V8, it could achieve improved strength, with critics estimating HP ratios of more than 400 and torque ratios of more than 390 lb.-ft. This would ensure best-in-class results with every mile.

It would also ensure best-in-class economy. Rumors swirl that the 4.8L platform will also feature EcoBoost technology. This will allow the 2020 F-150 to continue its trek toward efficiency, with Ford emphasizing reduced fuel demands to compete with mid-size models.

We’ll admit: we’re excited. Even though this F-150 future proves distant, we’ve already got our eyes on the horizon - searching for the first hint of a new V8.

According to 24/7 Wall Street, the F-Series remains the best-selling pick-up in North America, earning an impressive 67,412 total units in May. This represents a 9% year-over-year increase, with the F-150, F-250, and Raptor (once again) proving their consumer appeals. This provided Ford with approximately 45% of all full-size purchases.

The competition was, therefore, left in the dust - with the GMC Silverado delivering only 45,035 units (a 12% year-over-year decline) and the Dodge Ram achieving only 38,833 units (a 3% year-over-year decline). Other leading marquees - including the Toyota Tundra and the Nissan Frontier - fared worse, unable to even manage 10,000 units each. These statistics highlight the value of the F-Series, with consumers flocking to best-in-class towing, payloads, and economy.

June should continue this trend, with drivers hurrying to the Novlan lot to find their F-Series powerhouses. We expect a strong start to summer and know that these trucks will provide seasonal power for all.
