6 reasons the Ford GT supercar is driving the future

When you head to an auto show, you anticipate seeing vehicles that are made for the road ahead. For the lucky crowd at the 2015 Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto, the future was right before their eyes when the Ford GT supercar made its first Canadian appearance.

Bringing new meaning to the term showstopper, our chins hit the floor when the curtain dropped. Although we could spend lots of time showering the stunning GT with praise, we’ve zeroed in on the six reasons why the GT is the supercar of the future:

It’s faaaast. And we don’t just mean because of the engine. With only one year of development, the GT is poised for completion next year. Plus, Ford expects the first production prototype to arrive in the spring. That’s superhero speed in the car production world!
Active suspension. Using an in-cabin button any caped crusader would appreciate, the GT can actually lower itself for better aerodynamics and increased stability, as well as lift its front end to accommodate ramps and speedbumps.
It’s a lightweight heavyweight. With carbon fibre body structure and aluminum subframes, the GT has one of the best power to weight ratio of any car in the market.
It controls the elements. Because it wouldn’t be a real supercar without a superpower, the Ford GT’s got wings. The flying buttresses that link the roof to the fender are curved in ways to literally control the air, creating downforce, redirecting air to the rear spoiler, and acting as intake tubes for cooling the engine.
Did we mention it’s FAST?! The GT introduces the first-ever Ford Ecoboost twin-turbocharged, direct-injected 3.5-litre V6 engine that can produce more than 600 horsepower!
It can predict the future. Since the GT already knows what’s coming, it’s equipped with a backup camera. Although it won’t make parking as fun as driving, it’ll ensure you do it perfectly every time.

And just in case you needed something else to be impressed by, the Ford GT has a Canadian twist. Ford surprised auto show patrons by announcing that the stunning new GT Supercar will be built in partnership with Multimatic, a global engineering and manufacturing company headquartered in Markham, Ont.

Different types of chainsaws

Different types of chainsaws
Chainsaws can be broadly divided into the following groups:
1. PROFESSIONAL SAWS Chainsaws with maximum performance and optimum ergonomics. Designed for professional full-time or part-time use. Also available with heated handles.

2. ALL-ROUND SAWS Robust chainsaws. Built as professional saws, but with a slightly lower performance. Designed for part-time use, such as for woodcutting.
3. RECREATIONAL/CONSUMER SAWS Easy to use, small saws designed for home use by “recreational users” who do not use their chainsaw very often.

4. TREE CARE SAWS Developed to be used only by professionals in tree care work. Handling and work techniques for these saws are not addressed in this manual.

Chainsaw size
The size of the chainsaw is determined by piston displacement (cm³) and engine power (hp and kW). The size you should choose depends on the following two factors:

PROFICIENCY AND EXPERIENCE Choose a smaller chainsaw with a less powerful engine if you are new to chainsaw work. A small saw is more manoeuvrable than a large one. If the chainsaw is too heavy, your hands and arms will tire, which in the long run represents a safety risk.

WOOD TYPES AND SIZE OF TREES Choose a larger chainsaw with more power if you want to fell larger trees, especially hardwood. If the model is too small, this will subject the chainsaw to great strain and unnecessary wear.
Guide bar length
The appropriate length of the guide bar is determined by tree size and to some extent by the level of expertise the user has. If you are used to handling a chainsaw, you should have access to at least two different guide bar lengths, allowing you to vary the guide bar length with different tree sizes. A shorter guide bar weighs less and is easier to manoeuvre when doing limbing work. A longer guide bar is used for larger tree sizes.

Aluminum changes to trucks

Inside and out, aluminum changes the truck game for good!

When you’re the best selling truck in Canada for 49 years, you don’t just change the game. You reinvent it. With its ground-breaking use of aluminum, the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 has set a new precedent in the auto industry and brought new meaning to “built tough.”

The move to using high strength military-grade aluminum alloy in the body structure of the vehicle is a major innovation for a high volume product, and the 2015 F-150 is the only truck in the market that’s made this way. But the impact of this change doesn’t stop there. The use of aluminum means a weight savings of 700 lbs., which translates into increased capability of the truck, noticeable as soon as you start driving. It responds better, feels lighter and more nimble, and is quieter than previous models. Along with the body composition, the new F-150 gains another EcoBoost engine option, meaning the future of tough offers the 2.7L EcoBoost with best-in-class gas consumption. As one of 4 engine options, it provides drivers with the combination of torque, horsepower, and fuel-efficiency that best suits their needs.

Beyond these enhancements, the all-new 2015 F-150 is truly prepared for anything that work or the road brings, including the unfortunate incidents. “We’ve really been able to optimize the reparability of the truck and offer sectioning procedures and partial replacement procedures that we couldn’t do with the steel vehicle,” explains Larry Coan, Damageability Product Concern Engineer, Ford Motor Company. “We’ve gone in, looked at the design of the vehicle years ahead of time and tried to optimize the repairs; and the aluminum actually helps us do that.” Ford offers comprehensive dealer training and provides an F-150 Collision Repair Support plan to ensure that repairs are consistent across regions, making the 2015 F-150’s upstream design for reparability unlike any other in the market.

The transition to aluminum also provided the opportunity to add key onboard technology features that really make this truck a beauty inside the beast. With 11 class exclusive features that have never been in a truck before, convenience and safety have been enhanced, and F-150 fans can now enjoy a BLIS system, cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning, just to name a few. Particularly cutting edge are the safety increasing options of forward collision warning, which gives an audible and visual warning that a collision is imminent and starts to pre-charge the brakes to enable a faster stop, and a futuristic Active Park Assist that makes even the toughest parallel parking situation a breeze! All these game-changing upgrades have already resulted in the 2015 F-150’s all-aluminum body winning the AJAC Award for Best New Innovation Technology, but the praise for F-150 didn’t stop there. On the opening day of the Canadian International AutoShow, the F-150 drove away with the AJAC Award for Canadian Truck of the Year!

Just in case you needed more proof that it’s truck love at first sight, check the all-new 2015 F-150 out for yourself and tell us which of its features is your favourite game changer!
