Latest Ford News In Penticton BC
Excited by what you heard last week about the upcoming, all-new 2021 Bronco Sport, Penticton? Well, even more details about the exciting 4x4 machine are leaking, and it’s clear this SUV is set to bring wild capability to B.C.

The 2021 Bronco Sport is ready for whatever you are. The compact SUV has been built with made-for-the-trails departure, approach
and breakover angles. Four steel bash plates reinforce the machine against the rigors of road and trail driving, while available frame-mounted front tow hooks can each withstand static loads up to 100-percent of the vehicle’s gross weight. Plus, in Rock Crawl mode, the electronic power steering assist system is tweaked to offer even more precise control, alongside a reduction in steering wheel disturbance when rolling over rocky terrain at low speeds.

Bonus: The Bronco Sport comes with a class-exclusive front off-road camera with lens washer. It provides greater visibility of what lies ahead, displaying its video feed on the center stack-mounted touch screen.

Ford’s all-new Escape is earning plaudits everywhere—and that includes prestigious automotive organizations. Both J.D. Power and WardsAuto have awarded the compact machine honors this week.

J.D. Power has bestowed the 2020 Escape with the top spot among the compact SUV segment in their J.D. Power 2020 APEAL study. The study has measured the
level of excitement and emotional connection among vehicle owners across 37 attributes for the past 25 years. This includes power and luxury considerations.

The 2020 Escape has also been given two hearty thumbs up from WardAuto. The automotive body includes the crossover among its ‘10 Best User Experiences’ list, citing its driver-assist technologies, including Active Park Assist 2.0 and Adaptive Cruise Control.

“When we reinvented the all-new Ford Escape for 2020, we considered how small SUV customer needs have evolved and pivoted to make Escape an even better urban mobility vehicle that delivers great fuel economy, features advanced technology and is fun to drive,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford’s vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “That’s why we now offer two different hybrid choices, including an all-new plug-in model with best-in-class EPA-estimated 100 MPGe, an available digital instrument panel and SYNC 3 infotainment and second-row legroom that tops larger SUVs’.”

The upcoming two- and four-door Broncos—set for release early next year—are set to provide thrilling off-roading experiences for owners throughout B.C. Today, we want to discuss two incredible aspects of these upcoming vehicles—driver-selectable modes and available 4x4 systems.

The 2021 Bronco will supply drivers with seven selectable modes depending on the use case of their outing. First up is “Normal” (self-explanatory, right?), followed by “Eco” and “Sport,” the former of which puts a focus on fuel conservation and the latter of which firms things up for a fun ride. There’s also “Slippery” and “Sand” for traction control, and “Baja,” “Mud/Ruts,” and “Rock Crawl” specifically for off-road driving.

The new Broncos are also offered with the option of two separate 4x4 systems. The base system relies on a two-speed, electronic shift, on-the-fly transfer case. The advanced system ups the ante with a two-speed electromechanical transfer case with an auto mode for on-demand engagement and 2H/4H selection.

While Ford announced the exciting new 2021 Bronco two-door and four-door models this week, they also had another thrilling reveal—the compact, rugged, and stylish 2021 Bronco Sport. Built using the Big Blue Oval’s C2 platform, the Sport offers a different take on the Bronco without sacrificing the off-road focus.

The 4x4 2021 Bronco Sport is powerful and capable—and more than ready for you to put it through its paces in Penticton and B.C. when it goes on sale in North America later this year. The SUV is set to impress with its available 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine offering segment-best torque and horsepower. Bronco is back! Earlier this week, Ford revealed the all-new two- and four-door models of the Bronco to wildly positive feedback from the automotive community. Last seen in 1996, these rough-and-tumble SUVs are returning for 2021 and are packing a ton of power and utility.

You’ll love what’s under the hood. The new Bronco is outfitted with your choice of spectacular engines. The 2.3L EcoBoost option was designed to hit “best-in-class” four-cylinder torque numbers of 310 lb.-ft. alongside an expected 270 horsepower. Even better, the available 2.7L EcoBoost V6 variant is slated to crank out 310 HP and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. There’s also the option of a segment-exclusive 7-speed manual transmission for those drivers that elect to forgo the automatic.

Notably, the 2021 Bronco is modular. You can break down both the two-door and four-door models in almost any way you can imagine. Select versions provide quick-swap, fast-release stowable doors and roof panels. This combined with the standard 4x4 functionality across the entire lineup ensures these machines are truly Built Wild.

In one of our previous postings, we discussed the legacy of the Ford Bronco dating back to World War II. Now, ahead of this week’s unveiling of the all-new 2021 Bronco, we wanted to take a moment to once again revisit history and speak on the vehicle’s racing impact.

That’s right. The original Bronco—first released in 1966—made an appearance at the 1969 Baja 1000 motorsport race. Founded by Ed Pearlman and run on the Baja California Peninsula in northwestern Mexico, it’s one of the world’s most prestigious off-road races… and drivers Larry Minor and Rod Hall captured an overall win in a Bronco at the grueling event in ’69. It’s a feat no other production 4x4 has achieved in 50 years.

Now, Ford is set to bring the Bronco back. The 2021 iteration will be revealed on National Geographic, ESPN, and ABC at 8 p.m. EDT this Monday, July 13th. It’s an event set to inspire enthusiasts in Penticton and beyond.

“Rugged vehicles are in our heritage and we see strong growth opportunities with this ever-more popular segment,” said Kumar Galhotra, Ford president, Americas, and International Markets Group. “The Bronco brand meets that need by creating a family of truly capable off-roaders to take our customers further into the wild. We’ve leveraged our extensive off-road experience from vehicles like F-150 Raptor to ensure that every Bronco delivers the Built Wild toughness and durability our customers expect.”

Penticton, do you know just how far back the lineage of Ford’s venerable Bronco goes? Contrary to popular belief, the SUV, last seen in 1996 and ready for a return this upcoming week, can trace its history well before the 1960s.

Ford first dived into the world of SUVs during World War II, developing technology and engineering prowess that would eventually be used in the Bronco. Joining an American government competition to construct tough carry-all utilities for GIs on the battlefield, the Big Blue Oval created the GP, short for “general purpose.” More than 270,000 were built for Allied forces and, upon returning home, many GIs brought surplus GPs with them.

Following the war, Ford realized the GPs were too small for civilians, so in the early ’60s they redeveloped the machine into an off-road vehicle for the masses—the Bronco. Nicknamed the G.O.A.T. by Donald Frey, Ford president, the machines would come to be known for their “go anywhere roadability” upon their reveal on Aug. 11, 1965 and release in 1966.
