Latest Ford News In Penticton BC
Unless you’ve been completely off the grid the past week, you’ve likely heard about the new Ford lineup that’s completely at home, well, off the grid—the new 2021 Bronco. These machines are all “Built Wild,” and the particularly burly two- and four-door Broncos are ready to take Penticton and B.C. by storm starting early next year.

The new two- and four-door Broncos come loaded with your choice of powerful EcoBoost engines, including an available 2.7L EcoBoost V6 that churns out a sensational 310 horses and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. While an automatic transmission is available, buyers will have their choice of a hands-on, segment-exclusive seven-speed manual. Also available are tremendous 35-inch tires (also segment-exclusive) and a best-in-class 94.75:1 crawl ratio, suspension travel, water fording, and ground clearance.

Oh, and want to show off a bit? The 2021 Bronco comes with segment-exclusive digital trail mapping functionality that allows for the planning, recording, and sharing of off-road experiences through an all-in-one app.

While Ford announced the exciting new 2021 Bronco two-door and four-door models this week, they also had another thrilling reveal—the compact, rugged, and stylish 2021 Bronco Sport. Built using the Big Blue Oval’s C2 platform, the Sport offers a different take on the Bronco without sacrificing the off-road focus.

The 4x4 2021 Bronco Sport is powerful and capable—and more than ready for you to put it through its paces in Penticton and B.C. when it goes on sale in North America later this year. The SUV is set to impress with its available 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine offering segment-best torque and horsepower. Its architecture also boasts a class-exclusive twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a differential lock feature, as well as
cargo area to support stowing two 27.5-inch-wheel mountain bikes and a safari-style roof that boasts class-leading headroom.

That’s not all. The new Bronco Sport offers class-exclusive (you’ll be hearing that phrase a lot over the coming months) Trail Control™ tech that enhances off-road performance. It works by enabling a cruise control-esque experience up to 20 MPH forward and 6 MPH in reverse, providing for vehicle-controlled braking and throttle.

Bronco is back! Earlier this week, Ford revealed the all-new two- and four-door models of the Bronco to wildly positive feedback from the automotive community. Last seen in 1996, these rough-and-tumble SUVs are returning for 2021 and are packing a ton of power and utility.

You’ll love what’s under the hood. The new Bronco is outfitted with your choice of spectacular engines. The 2.3L EcoBoost option was designed to hit “best-in-class” four-cylinder torque numbers of 310 lb.-ft. alongside an expected 270 horsepower. Even better, the available 2.7L EcoBoost V6 variant is slated to crank out 310 HP and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. There’s also the option of a segment-exclusive 7-speed manual transmission for those drivers that elect to forgo the automatic.

Notably, the 2021 Bronco is modular. You can break down both the two-door and four-door models in almost any way you can imagine. Select versions provide quick-swap, fast-release stowable doors and roof panels. This combined with the standard 4x4 functionality across the entire lineup ensures these machines are truly Built Wild.

In one of our previous postings, we discussed the legacy of the Ford Bronco dating back to World War II. Now, ahead of this week’s unveiling of the all-new 2021 Bronco, we wanted to take a moment to once again revisit history and speak on the vehicle’s racing impact.

That’s right. The original Bronco—first released in 1966—made an appearance at the 1969 Baja 1000 motorsport race. Founded by Ed Pearlman and run on the Baja California Peninsula in northwestern Mexico, it’s one of the world’s most prestigious off-road races… and drivers Larry Minor and Rod Hall captured an overall win in a Bronco at the grueling event in ’69. It’s a feat no other production 4x4 has achieved in 50 years.

Now, Ford is set to bring the Bronco back. The 2021 iteration will be revealed on National Geographic, ESPN, and ABC at 8 p.m. EDT this Monday, July 13th. It’s an event set to inspire enthusiasts in Penticton and beyond.

“Rugged vehicles are in our heritage and we see strong growth opportunities with this ever-more popular segment,” said Kumar Galhotra, Ford president, Americas, and International Markets Group. “The Bronco brand meets that need by creating a family of truly capable off-roaders to take our customers further into the wild. We’ve leveraged our extensive off-road experience from vehicles like F-150 Raptor to ensure that every Bronco delivers the Built Wild toughness and durability our customers expect.”

Penticton, do you know just how far back the lineage of Ford’s venerable Bronco goes? Contrary to popular belief, the SUV, last seen in 1996 and ready for a return this upcoming week, can trace its history well before the 1960s.

Ford first dived into the world of SUVs during World War II, developing technology and engineering prowess that would eventually be used in the Bronco. Joining an American government competition to construct tough carry-all utilities for GIs on the battlefield, the Big Blue Oval created the GP, short for “general purpose.” More than 270,000 were built for Allied forces and, upon returning home, many GIs brought surplus GPs with them.

Following the war, Ford realized the GPs were too small for civilians, so in the early ’60s they redeveloped the machine into an off-road vehicle for the masses—the Bronco. Nicknamed the G.O.A.T. by Donald Frey, Ford president, the machines would come to be known for their “go anywhere roadability” upon their reveal on Aug. 11, 1965 and release in 1966.

The all-new 2021 Bronco is nearly set for release, and Ford fans everywhere are getting an official taste of what to expect this upcoming Monday, July 13, when the Big Blue Oval brand shows off the fruits of years’ worth of labor on National Geographic, ESPN and ABC at 8 p.m. EDT. Ahead of that reveal, here are some fun facts about the Bronco:

Since Ford first ended production of the machine back in 1996, the Bronco’s popularity as a collector’s item has continued to grow. Since Ford’s announcement in January 2017 that the Bronco would make a return, valuation has shot upward. The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company now claims that first-generation Bronco valuation has doubled in three years, from $39,763 to $74,820.

Hagerty says the 75.8-percent gain in valuation is among the highest of any collectible SUV in the past three years.

To date, the Bronco has been featured in more than 200 songs and greater than 1,200 films.
