I’ve heard tell of the phenomenon but I don’t quite think I have a grasp of it: What are evaporative leaks?
Thanks, Stewart
Stewart,
Thanks for your question! Evaporative leaks, whether on a Nissan vehicle like the Titan, Armada, or something else entirely, refer to a fuel expansion. This can occur in the tank of an automobile when it is acted upon by outside forces—most typically external temperatures. Granted, modern machines come with a venting system that is designed to mitigate this problem and drastically reduce any resulting pollution that would otherwise leak out into the environment. However, it is important to note that, like with any technology, this system can fail and an evaporative leak can occur.
Bear in mind, however, that one of the most common causes of an evaporative leak is a damaged or loose gas cap. Of course, these can be easily replaced for just a few dollars.
