There are two kinds of pickup trucks: light and heavy-duty. The middle ground isn’t a concept that many auto companies seem to grasp. Engineers and designers at Nissan saw this white space on the market and built a vehicle to fill it.
Introducing the 2017 Nissan Titan XD S - a workhorse that can be wild or docile depending on the task at hand.
This five-seater is equipped with a 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine that generates 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive and the proper towing package make it capable of pulling up to 9,800 lbs. According to Motor Trend, fuel economy is set at 17 mpg combined (15 city/20 highway). Considering its substantial size and raw power, those are pretty good numbers.
The S trim level has a lockable tailgate to secure the payload. The bed on the crew-cab body style is 6.5 ft. and can be lined to prevent scratches. Bluetooth connectivity enables smartphone integration for hands-free calling and listening to music. Cloth and vinyl upholstery allow for easy clean-ups.
