In 2015 Ford transformed the half-ton market - introducing drivers to its newly revised F-Series. This fleet delivered a design like no other, with its F-150, F-250 and F-350 platforms all fused with military-grade aluminum. The effect proved both striking and economical (shedding more than 700-pounds from each chassis to promote improved fuel capabilities). Strong sales followed and every chart has since been dominated by the Big Blue Oval.

Many critics are, therefore, surprised to learn that Ford intends to unveil a series of new pick-ups to the market. The F-Series is receiving its 14th generation upgrade.

According to Torque News, Ford is currently revising its entire F-Series fleet. Despite the current design architecture proving popular - with drivers seeking out its lightweight frame and smart cargo options, including the BoxLink system (which blends stowable loading ramps with deployable side-steps) - the company wishes to push its technology forward. By 2020 it intends to launch fully revised F-150s, F-250s, and Super Duty models; and, while no official specs have been revealed, many believe that each of these platforms will deliver:

Standardized 10-Speed Transmission: currently an optional F-Series feature, this system should be integrated into the entire fleet. It will allow for smooth automatic responses, reducing gear-strain on tricky terrains.

Increased Aluminum: Ford shattered the half-ton mold when it cast the F-Series in an alloy frame. Now that this material has proven its worth, expect to see it used to even greater effect. New paneling and undercarriage castings are anticipated.

Flat-Loading Floor: Currently found in the Super Crew and Super Cab configurations, this design option should be offered across every truck, providing one-touch storage solutions and durable vinyl materials.
