What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Seltos shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 1,166 Seltos comments posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What is new for the second generation?

Styling is the biggest theme, raised in 260 comments. The 2027 Seltos has a bold, boxy new design with flush door handles and LED headlamps, and it is longer, taller and wider than before. Kia Canada says the wheelbase grows by 60 mm (2.4 in), with 25 mm (1.0 in) more rear legroom and headroom. Terrain Brown and Frost Blue are new colours, according to MotorMouth's review notes. One viewer wrote after the first look: "I liked the previous Seltos but this new one is OUTSTANDING. Like a baby Telluride."

02

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 145 comments. Kia Canada lists the 2027 Seltos from $28,495 for the LX FWD to $41,295 for the X-Line Limited AWD. Kia Canada's all-in price for the LX FWD is $31,858, including $2,100 freight, a $100 A/C charge and dealer and other fees, before licence, insurance and taxes.

Take this to your test drive

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and list the features you want to see which trim includes them.

03

Which engine should I choose?

Engine and power come up in 171 comments and transmissions in 80. The LX, EX and EX Premium use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft and an IVT, with front- or all-wheel drive on the LX. The X-Line and X-Line Limited use a 1.6-litre turbo four with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft, an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive, according to MotorMouth's review notes.

Take this to your test drive

Drive a 2.0-litre and a turbo back to back, including a highway on-ramp, and decide whether the extra power is worth the price step.

04

When is the hybrid coming?

Hybrid and electric power come up in 177 comments. Kia Canada says the Seltos hybrid uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, with front-wheel drive and available electric all-wheel drive, a first for a Kia hybrid SUV. It is expected by the end of 2026, with pricing and fuel ratings announced closer to the on-sale date. One viewer wrote: "Very cool look, and the right size for empty-nesters. The fact that it is a smaller version of the Telluride is great. I'd only buy the hybrid, so good changes for the Seltos."

Take this to your test drive

If you want the hybrid, ask the dealer to let you know when pricing is out, and drive a gas Seltos now so you know the cabin and seats.

05

How much fuel does it use?

Fuel economy comes up in 50 comments. Official Canadian ratings for the 2027 Seltos had not been published when this guide was written. In a mix of city and highway driving in the X-Line Limited with the turbo, Zack and Andrea averaged 7.5 L/100 km (31 mpg US) and saw 6.8 L/100 km (35 mpg US) at one point on the highway, according to MotorMouth's review notes.

06

Is it big enough for me?

Space and cargo come up in 24 comments. Kia Canada estimates 786 L (27.8 cu ft) of cargo space behind the second row and 1,817 L (64.2 cu ft) behind the first row, and a two-step folding luggage board is available. MotorMouth's review notes list 1,052 mm (41.4 in) of front legroom and 991 mm (39.0 in) in the second row. One shopper weighing the Seltos and the Sportage wrote: "I'm liking this. I was weighing between the Seltos and the Sportage. A bigger Seltos would be perfect for my needs."

07

Interior and tech come up in 125 comments. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, with a 12.3-inch driver display and 5-inch climate display available, plus USB-C ports in both rows. Pair your phone on the test drive, and check which trim brings the screens and seat features you want.

08

How does it drive, and is it ready for winter?

Winter driving and all-wheel drive come up in 50 comments. Zack and Andrea found the Seltos quiet for its class, with an open, bright cabin, good visibility, exceptionally comfortable seats and light steering that many drivers will like. All-wheel-drive models get a multi-link rear suspension and, in Canada, a temporary spare tire, according to MotorMouth's review notes. A shopper who test drove one wrote: "The Seltos was very enjoyable to drive."

Drive it on a rough road and the highway, and budget for a set of winter tires with the trim you choose.
