What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Tucson shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 3,097 comments on MotorMouth's Tucson videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

Gas, hybrid or plug-in hybrid?

Hybrid and plug-in power is the biggest theme, raised in 865 comments. The gas Tucson uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 187 hp and an eight-speed automatic. The hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre turbo four with an electric motor for a combined 231 hp and 271 lb-ft, with a conventional six-speed automatic rather than a CVT. The plug-in hybrid makes 268 hp and offers up to 51 km (32 mi) of electric driving, according to Hyundai Canada. One viewer liked that detail: "A hybrid without a CVT? You're singin' my song."

Take this to your test drive

Drive the gas model and the hybrid back to back on the same route, and if you can charge at home, ask to try the plug-in hybrid as well.

02

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 479 comments. Hyundai Canada lists the 2026 Tucson from $35,499 MSRP for the gas model, $43,399 for the hybrid and $53,299 for the plug-in hybrid. MotorMouth's review notes list the hybrid at $45,791 for the new Night Edition, $46,791 for the N Line and $50,791 for the Ultimate, prices that include freight, PDI and fees.

Take this to your test drive

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and compare the Night Edition with the N Line to see which extras matter to you.

03

How much fuel does it use?

Fuel economy comes up in 176 comments. Natural Resources Canada rates the Tucson Hybrid at 6.7 L/100 km (35 mpg US) combined and the gas Tucson at 8.8 L/100 km (27 mpg US) combined. Hyundai Canada estimates up to 776 km (482 mi) of driving range from the hybrid's 52 L tank. The plug-in hybrid can be charged on a Level 2 charger from 10 to 80% in about two hours, according to MotorMouth's review notes. One hybrid owner reported: "We picked up our 2023 Tucson Ultimate Hybrid in June. We have just under 6000 kms and are averaging 7.0 l/100kms. Love the car and how quiet it is, even at highway speeds"

04

How does it drive?

Transmission and drive feel come up in 103 comments. Zack and Andrea's notes describe the hybrid as smooth and comfortable, with light steering, a very quiet, well-insulated cabin, a good turning radius for city parking and strong passing power on the highway. All-wheel drive is standard on every Canadian Tucson. One owner described a B.C. road trip: "I have the 2025 Tucson Hybrid Ultimate. Still loving it. Took it Vancouver to Kelowna and back over 2 days... great smooth drive. Love this vehicle."

Try a highway merge and a tight parking lot on the same drive, and compare the drive modes.

05

Is it big enough for my family?

Space, cargo and rear seats come up in 102 comments. MotorMouth's notes list 1,052 mm (41.4 in) of front legroom and 1,049 mm (41.3 in) in the second row, with 1,096 L (38.7 cu ft) of cargo space behind the second row and 2,110 L (74.5 cu ft) overall. Ground clearance is 211 mm (8.3 in), which makes it easy to get in and out. A new owner wrote: "So far, very pleased with the 2026 Tucson Hybrid (N Line). I have the same colour as in this video - it's sharp. I am 6'1" in height and am quite comfortable in the driver's seat."

Bring car seats and your usual cargo, and sit behind your own driving position to check rear legroom.

06

What about the styling, and the new 2027 model?

Styling is discussed in 666 comments. The Canadian N Line adds its own grille, front fascia and rear bumper with a diffuser, and the hybrid Night Edition adds blacked-out accents, mirror caps, window trim and badging. Hyundai Canada says a redesigned 2027 Tucson arrives in early 2027, 4,700 mm (185.0 in) long with gas and hybrid power and a 17-inch PLEOS Connect screen. One viewer wrote about the current look: "The Tucson looks really nice. The interior looks pretty good. I also like the wrenches look of the rims. The rear wiper facing down is genius."

See the colour you want in daylight, and ask the dealer when 2027 models are expected if you are flexible on timing.

07

What tech comes with it?

Interior and tech come up in 533 comments. Hybrid trims have a curved display made up of two 12.3-inch screens, with physical controls for audio volume and climate, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless charger. Available features include navigation, a head-up display, surround view and blind view monitors, remote smart parking assist, highway driving assist, ventilated front seats and an eight-speaker Bose system. An Ultimate Hybrid owner wrote: "I purchased the 2025 Tucson Hybrid Ultimate a few months ago, and I absolutely love it. As you said, it's very quiet and smooth. I love all the technology and features. It's one of the few in this segment with a HUD display."

Take this to your test drive

Pair your phone on the test drive and try the head-up display and parking cameras on the trim you are pricing.

08

Can it tow, and is it ready for winter?

Towing comes up in 52 comments and winter driving in 91. Every Canadian Tucson has all-wheel drive. The gas model can tow up to 3,500 lb (1,588 kg), and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid up to 2,000 lb (907 kg), according to Hyundai Canada. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are standard on the Night Edition.

Bring the weight of your trailer, ask which hitch comes with the trim you choose, and budget for winter tires.
