The GX is Lexus's body-on-frame SUV on the GA-F platform, in its current generation since the 2024 model year, and Lexus Canada said at launch that it is assembled at the Tahara plant in Japan. Every 2026 Canadian GX is a GX 550 with a 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 making 349 hp and up to 479 lb-ft, a 10-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive with a Torsen limited-slip locking rear differential. There is no hybrid GX. Lexus Canada offers six grades, from the Signature at $87,140 to the Executive at $110,203, with seating for five, six or seven depending on the grade. New for 2026, Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 Extended is standard on every grade. The lexus.ca SUVs page labels the GX as a 2027 model, but Lexus Canada has not published 2027 GX pricing yet, so this guide covers the 2026 model. Fuel use is Natural Resources Canada's 2026 rating, and towing published in pounds is converted to kilograms.

What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions GX shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 1,397 comments about the GX on MotorMouth videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 204 comments, and dealers and markups in 43. Lexus Canada lists the 2026 GX 550 from $87,140 for the Signature to $110,203 for the Executive, with the Overtrail at $96,500 and the Overtrail+ at $109,275. Lexus Canada's estimated vehicle price for the Signature is $90,540, before taxes, licence, insurance and registration. The lexus.ca SUVs page already labels the GX as a 2027 model, but Lexus Canada has not published 2027 GX pricing yet.

Take this to your test drive

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees in writing, and confirm whether the vehicle you are offered is a 2026 or a 2027 model.

02

What powers it, and is there a hybrid?

Engine and power come up in 127 comments, and hybrid and electric power in 111. Every 2026 GX is a GX 550 with a 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 making 349 hp and up to 479 lb-ft, a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic with paddle shifters and full-time four-wheel drive, according to Lexus Canada. There is no hybrid GX in Canada; Lexus's hybrid body-on-frame SUV is the larger LX 700h. One owner wrote, comparing it with the LX 700h: "Get the GX w/o the complications of a hybrid, same engine and platform."

Take this to your test drive

Drive it on the highway and up a long hill, and use the paddle shifters to see how the V6 and 10-speed respond.

03

How much fuel does it use?

Fuel economy comes up in 75 comments. Natural Resources Canada rates the 2026 GX 550 at 15.3 L/100 km (15 mpg US) city, 11.2 L/100 km (21 mpg US) highway and 13.5 L/100 km (17 mpg US) combined on premium fuel, matching Lexus Canada's 13.5 L/100 km (17 mpg US) combined figure.

Take this to your test drive

Reset the trip computer at the start of your test drive and include some city driving, since the city rating is where the GX uses the most fuel.

04

Does the design stand out?

Styling is discussed in 288 GX comments, more than any other theme. The current GX arrived for 2024 with a boxy new shape on the GA-F platform. Height varies by grade, from 1,915 mm (75.4 in) on the Luxury and Executive to 1,935 mm (76.2 in) on the Overtrail grades, on a 4,950 mm (194.9 in) length, according to Lexus Canada's preview figures. One viewer wrote after the 2025 review: "What a good looking vehicle in and out. I love how much Lexus put into making the GX tough and capable."

Take this to your test drive

See it in daylight in the colour you want, and compare an Overtrail with a Luxury or Executive side by side.

05

Which grade is best off-road?

The Overtrail and Overtrail+ are the off-road grades. Lexus Canada lists their approach, breakover and departure angles at 26°, 24° and 22°, against 26°, 23° and 23° for the Signature and Premium and 26°, 23° and 21° for the Luxury and Executive. The Overtrail grades come with a cooling box and a pre-wired auxiliary switch bank, and the Overtrail+ adds an onboard air compressor. The Overtrail seats five in two rows. One viewer wrote: "I love the GX OverTrail + the best and will get one soon."

Take this to your test drive

If you plan to leave the pavement, ask to see the Overtrail's off-road controls, and decide whether you need a third row before choosing it.

06

Is it big enough for my family?

Space, cargo and rear seats come up in 38 comments. The GX seats five, six or seven depending on grade: the Signature seats seven, the Executive seats six with second-row captain's chairs and the Overtrail seats five, and the Premium has a power-folding third row, according to Lexus Canada. Lexus Canada does not publish a cargo volume in litres; its 2023 preview says the cargo area holds up to five suitcases with the third row folded, and every grade has a 120V/400W outlet there.

Take this to your test drive

Bring the luggage or gear you carry most, fold and raise the third row yourself, and confirm the seat count of the exact grade you want.

07

What tech and comfort come with it?

Interior and tech come up in 135 comments. Every 2026 GX has a 14-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch multi-information display, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 10 airbags, driver's seat memory and a power steering column. New for 2026, Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 Extended is standard on every grade and the Luxury gains a digital rear-view mirror, according to Lexus Canada.

Take this to your test drive

Pair your phone on the test drive, try the touchscreen while moving, and sit in every row you plan to use.

08

How much can it tow, and is it ready for winter?

Towing comes up in 21 comments. Lexus Canada rates the 2026 GX to tow up to 9,063 lb (4,111 kg). Its 2024 launch release gave figures by grade, from 7,800 lb (3,538 kg) for the Executive to 9,096 lb (4,126 kg) for the Overtrail, but these are not confirmed for 2026. Every GX has full-time four-wheel drive with a Torsen limited-slip locking rear differential.

Take this to your test drive

Bring the weight of your trailer, ask the dealer to confirm the 2026 rating for the exact grade, and budget for winter tires.
