The 2027 NX is a refresh of the current-generation NX, and it is now fully electrified: the gas model is gone, leaving a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, both with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder, an eCVT and standard electronic all-wheel drive. Both come in Luxury, Executive and F Sport trims in Canada. The hybrid is built at TMMC in Cambridge, Ontario, and the plug-in hybrid in Japan; production in Cambridge begins at the end of the year, with the NX arriving at dealerships in early 2027. Pricing has not been announced. Figures on this page come from Zack and Andrea Spencer's MotorMouth review notes; some are preliminary Lexus figures and are labelled as such, and measurements published in inches and cubic feet are converted to metric.

What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions NX shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 1,877 NX comments posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

Hybrid or plug-in hybrid?

Hybrid and electric power is the biggest theme, raised in 412 comments. For 2027 the NX drops its gas model. The hybrid makes a combined 236 hp and the plug-in hybrid 324 hp, both preliminary figures, and the plug-in hybrid's battery grows from 18.8 kWh to 22.7 kWh for up to 72 km (45 mi) of electric range. A plug-in hybrid owner described daily use: "I do a lot of local driving and the pure EV mode is slick and made efficient by the nightly recharge. The new NX450h+ is a well-sorted out vehicle."

Take this to your test drive

Compare your daily round trip with the plug-in hybrid's electric range, and ask whether you can charge at home or at work.

02

What will it cost?

Price and value come up in 387 comments. Canadian pricing for the 2027 NX has not been announced yet and will be shared closer to the on-sale date. Canada gets three trims for both powertrains, Luxury, Executive and F Sport, and more standard features than the US models. One buyer weighed the NX against a larger Lexus: "We put an order in for an NX a few months ago. We went through a similar conversation to what you two did, and ultimately felt the value from the NX was far greater, especially at the executive trim vs the equivalent price in the RX."

Take this to your test drive

Ask the dealer when Canadian pricing is expected, and list the features you want so you can match them to a trim when it is.

03

How does charging work?

The plug-in hybrid has a larger 11 kW onboard charger and standard DC fast charging. MotorMouth's review notes list 0 to 100% in 2.5 hours on a Level 2 charger, and 10 to 80% in 35 minutes at a DC fast charger at speeds up to 50 kW. An NX 450h+ owner wrote: "I have a 2022 NX 450h+ F-Sport and love it. I’ve been driving at about 95% EV mode over the last 65,000 km and the service cost has been minimal."

Take this to your test drive

Price out a home Level 2 charger with installation, and ask the dealer to show you the charge port and charging settings.
