What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions LEAF shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 585 LEAF comments posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Price and value is the biggest theme, in 201 comments. Nissan Canada lists the 2027 LEAF S at $34,998, which it calls Canada's lowest priced new EV, then the S+ at $45,198, the SV+ at $48,198 and the Platinum+ at $52,998, before $2,200 freight and PDI, a $100 A/C charge and dealer fees. Nissan Canada adds that the Government of Canada's EVAP incentive brings the LEAF S below $30,000, with eligibility and amounts set by the government. One viewer shared a neighbour's choice: "My neighbor wanted to buy a Tesla and instead purchased the 2026 Nissan Leaf Platinum trim, blue exterior with blue interior, and she loves it."

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and ask the dealer to confirm which incentives apply to the grade you want on the day you buy.

02

Which battery and how much range?

EVs and charging come up in 177 comments. The LEAF S has a 53 kWh battery and an estimated 341 km (212 mi) of range. The 75 kWh grades are estimated at 488 km (303 mi) for the S+, 463 km (288 mi) for the SV+ and 417 km (259 mi) for the Platinum+, according to Nissan Canada.

Work out your longest regular round trip, add a winter margin, and pick the grade whose range covers it comfortably.

03

How does charging work?

The LEAF has two ports: a NACS port on the passenger side for faster public charging and a J1772 port on the driver's side for Level 1 and Level 2. Nissan Canada estimates 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes on a DC fast charger, lists Plug and Charge and vehicle-to-load at 1,500 W, and says the new 11 kW onboard charger on the S+ and up cuts Level 2 charging time by an estimated 35%, or about two to three hours, compared with the 7 kW setup. One owner who charges at home wrote: "Driver side AC port is perfect for our garage."

Take this to your test drive

Check which side of your garage or driveway your home charger will be on, and ask the dealer to show you Plug and Charge setup.
