The Crosstrek is Subaru's small crossover, and every Canadian model has Symmetrical Full-Time all-wheel drive and a CVT. For 2026 the 180 hp 2.5-litre BOXER engine is standard across the lineup, replacing the former 2.0-litre, and the e-BOXER Hybrid Limited returns with 194 total system hp. The 2026 lineup has five trims, from the Convenience at $30,595 to the Hybrid Limited at $40,595 MSRP. Prices and equipment come from Subaru Canada; legroom, cargo behind the rear seat, towing, spare and warranty come from Zack and Andrea Spencer's MotorMouth review notes on the 2026 model, which is the model on this page, converted to metric.

What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Crosstrek shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 2,551 comments on MotorMouth's Crosstrek videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 429 comments, more than any other theme. Subaru Canada prices the 2026 Crosstrek at $30,595 for the Convenience, $33,595 for the Touring, $35,095 for the Onyx and $38,095 for the Limited. The e-BOXER Hybrid Limited is $40,595 MSRP.

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and list the features you want to see which trim includes them.

02

Should I get the hybrid?

Hybrid and electric power come up in 376 comments. For 2026 the hybrid returns as one trim, the e-BOXER Hybrid Limited, $2,500 more than the gas Limited. It pairs the 2.5-litre BOXER with an electric motor for 194 total system hp and adds an exclusive 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a surround-view 360-degree camera and unique 18-inch wheels. Its battery sits under the cargo floor, so it uses a tire repair kit instead of a spare. One buyer described their choice: "We just bought this exact 2026 Crosstrek Limited Hybrid with the sunroof & 360 camera (a must have for us) & upgraded sound system"

Drive the gas and hybrid back to back on the same route, and compare the price gap with your yearly kilometres.

03

Is the 2.5-litre engine enough?

Engine and power come up in 348 comments, and the CVT in 206. For 2026 every gas Crosstrek in Canada uses the 2.5-litre BOXER with 180 hp and 178 lb-ft, replacing the former 2.0-litre. The hybrid makes 194 total system hp and, according to MotorMouth's notes, 199 lb-ft. Zack and Andrea say they always preferred the larger engine for its extra power. A Crosstrek owner in Alberta wrote: "It has enough pep to pass and cruises nicely at higher speeds."

04

What tech and safety features come with it?

Interior and tech come up in 427 comments. EyeSight is standard, with enhancements and a new rear seat side airbag for 2026. The Convenience has a dual 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; the Touring and up get an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless phone connection, plus Automatic Emergency Steering, Emergency Lane Keep Assist and DriverFocus. The Onyx adds Reverse Automatic Braking and a wireless charger, and the Limited and Hybrid Limited add navigation and Harman Kardon audio.

Pair your phone, try the climate and seat controls on the 11.6-inch screen while parked, and ask the dealer to show you EyeSight on the highway.

05

What is new for 2026?

Styling comes up in 341 comments. For 2026 the 2.5-litre engine and CVT are standard across the lineup, the e-BOXER Hybrid Limited returns, a rear seat side airbag is added, EyeSight is enhanced and Sand Dune Pearl paint is offered on every trim. Citrus Yellow Pearl is exclusive to the Hybrid Limited.

See it in daylight in the colour you want, and ask the dealer whether your colour costs extra.

06

How does it handle winter?

All-wheel drive and winter driving come up in 192 comments. Every Crosstrek has Symmetrical Full-Time AWD with X-MODE and Hill Descent Control, and the Onyx adds dual-function X-MODE. Subaru Canada lists 220 mm (8.7 in) of ground clearance, and heated front seats are standard; the Touring and up add a heated steering wheel. The Alberta owner added: "I do a lot of highway driving in Alberta and it was a great car last winter."

Take this to your test drive

Budget for winter tires, and ask whether the trim you want has a heated steering wheel.

07

Is it big enough, and can it tow?

Space and rear seats come up in 68 comments and towing in 50. Subaru Canada lists up to 1,549 L (54.7 cu ft) of cargo space in the gas models and 1,433 L (50.6 cu ft) in the hybrid. MotorMouth's notes list 1,090 mm (42.9 in) of front legroom and 927 mm (36.5 in) in the rear, 564 L (19.9 cu ft) behind the rear seat (527 L, 18.6 cu ft, in the hybrid) and a towing capacity of 1,500 lb (680 kg).

Bring your usual gear, fold the rear seat, and check the hybrid's cargo floor if you carry a full-size spare on road trips.
