What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Tundra shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 457 Tundra comments posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 106 comments. Toyota Canada lists 37 configurations of the 2026 Tundra, from $54,340 for the 4x2 SR Double Cab to $94,595 for the i-FORCE MAX Capstone with towing mirrors.

Take this to your test drive

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and price the cab, bed and towing mirror options you actually need.

02

Which engine do I get?

Engine and power come up in 201 comments. Every Tundra uses a 3.4 L twin-turbo V6 with a 10-speed automatic. The 4x2 and 4x4 SR make 348 hp and 405 lb-ft, and the SR5 and higher gas grades are tuned for 389 hp and 479 lb-ft, according to Toyota Canada.

Take this to your test drive

Drive an SR and an SR5 back to back if you are deciding between them, and try a highway merge with a load in the bed.

03

Is the i-FORCE MAX hybrid worth it?

Hybrids come up in 62 comments. The i-FORCE MAX adds an electric motor to the twin-turbo V6 for 437 hp and 583 lb-ft combined, with a combined rating of 11.7 L/100 km (20 mpg US). It comes as a CrewMax from $75,975 for the Limited Nightshade.

Take this to your test drive

Compare the hybrid and gas versions of the same grade on price, then drive both on the same route.

04

How much can it tow?

Towing comes up in 23 comments. Toyota Canada rates the 4x4 Tundra to pull up to 5,440 kg (11,993 lb), the i-FORCE MAX up to 5,067 kg (11,171 lb) and the 4x2 up to 3,760 kg (8,289 lb).

Take this to your test drive

Bring the weight of your trailer, and ask the dealer to confirm the towing rating, hitch and mirrors for the exact configuration.

05

Double Cab or CrewMax?

Space comes up in 17 comments. The Double Cab seats up to five with a 6.5-foot or 8.1-foot bed, and the CrewMax adds rear-seat space with a 5.5-foot or 6.5-foot bed. The i-FORCE MAX is offered only as a CrewMax.

Take this to your test drive

Sit in the back seat of both cabs, and measure the bed against what you plan to haul.

06

Which grade suits off-road driving?

Toyota Canada offers the TRD Off Road and TRD Rally Package on the gas 4x4, a Limited TRD Off Road on gas and hybrid, and the hybrid TRD Pro at $89,326. For 2027 the TRD Pro gets FOX Q3S adjustable shocks. A TRD Pro owner wrote: "I absolutely love the truck."

Take this to your test drive

Ask which grades have a locking rear differential and skid plates, and drive the one you want on a gravel road if you can.

07

Does the design stand out?

Styling is discussed in 78 Tundra comments. The 2026 TRD Pro adds an exclusive Wave Maker blue, and the 2027 Tundra brings a more modern front end and a new Honeycomb colour for the TRD Pro. One driver of a 2025 model wrote: "Beautifully put together truck."

Take this to your test drive

See it in daylight, in the colour and grade you want, before you decide.

08

What is the tech like, and what changes for 2027?

Interior and technology come up in 61 comments. The 2026 Tundra has an 8-inch or 14-inch touchscreen depending on grade, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For 2027 Toyota Canada makes the 14-inch screen standard and adds Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, a Drive Recorder and a Trailhunter package, with pricing in fall 2026.

Take this to your test drive

Ask when 2027 trucks arrive, and compare a 2026 on the lot with what the 2027 adds for the grade you want.
