The Dorado is a Los Suenos favorite. Its spectacular coloring and impressive strength enlivens every charter trip, making it the target of first-time anglers and tournament champions alike. These fish are powerful, plentiful and easy to find.
Without the proper bait, however, they will prove difficult to catch.
Live Bait
The Dorado is a predatory breed. It will feast on most small fish, using its sharp teeth to snatch them from reefs or shelves. For best results, though, anglers should use Crabs, Squids, Sardines or Mackerels.
Artificial Bait
The Dorado will respond to artificial bait, if it proves distracting enough. Choose loud poppers and rubber-skirted plugs to draw this creature out.Â
