The Blue Fish is among Los Suenos’ most common predators. Large schools skulk along the surface, creating feeding frenzies and disturbing the currents. These creatures are compact but fierce, with sharp teeth and strong jaws. This can make them a challenge to catch.
Choosing the wrong bait, however, can turn that challenge into an impossibility. Costa Rica Fishing Adventures recommends finding the best options available.
Live Bait
The Blue Fish has a strong hunting drive. It will attack creatures smaller than itself (even its own young) and will relentlessly chase them through rocks, reefs and shelves. Choose highly flavorful options, therefore, to keep these fish centered near the ship. Squids, Minnows and Shrimp are ideal.
Artificial Bait
The Blue Fish will blitz any bait it sees. Sturdy artificial options, like steel leaders and sea-strikers, are recommended to survive its knife-like teeth.
