Catching a White Marlin in Los Suenos is often more a matter of luck than skill. These creatures are rare and few anglers have ever been able to reel one in.
Costa Rica Fishing Adventures, however, believes in being prepared for anything. We offer these baiting suggestions for those who want to seek the White Marlin, even if the chances of catching one sometimes border on the impossible.
Live Bait
The White Marlin is noted for fickleness. Certain baits simply do not appeal and many anglers have wasted their dollars on expensive Squids, Crabs and Spanish Mackerels. It’s best to rely on simple flavors, like Ballyhoos or Skipjacks. These have the right coloring and movement to appeal.
Artificial Bait
The White Marlin prefers live bait. It will, however, attack artificial options if they prove distracting enough. Choose surface poppers and dredgers for the best results.
