Combine the prowess of everybody’s favorite performance sedan with the efficiency of an eco-friendly cruiser and what do you get? A dream come true, if you ask us. This 2014 INFINITI Q50 Hybrid melds the best of both worlds to deliver a four-door sports car that is both easy on the eyes and the environment.
Powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor, this ride provides impressive acceleration and controlled handling. Capable of producing up to 360 HP with 258 lb-ft of torque, it’s actually a whole 32 HP more energetic than the regular model Q50. In fact, according to Motor Trend, “the 0-60 MPH run takes just 4.9 seconds to the standard's 5.2 seconds.â€
However, aside from being one of the quickest combo powertrain vehicles on the market, what’s even more outstanding is that while delivering on these dynamic attributes, it also gets excellent fuel economy. In its standard model form, the INFINITI Q50 is a sporty sedan that leaves little to be desired. When you throw a hybrid powertrain into the mix, there’s even more to love — not the least of which is its enhanced fuel economy.
Equipped with an advanced Direct Response system featuring Intelligent Dual Shift Control, the transmission combines a 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy V6 with a laminated lithium-ion 50 KW battery design. The result is improved efficiency, thanks to the electric motor’s instant energy which provides smooth acceleration. Without any compromise of performance, this environmentally-friendly ride produces 302 HP with 214 lb-ft of torque while earning 34 MPG on the highway and 28 MPG in the city.
Utilizing an innovative one-motor/two-clutch setup, the vehicle can intuitively separate the engine from the drivetrain to create unique power-sources depending on the circumstances. For example, when speeding up, the smart CPU will call upon both energy supplies to achieve maximum efficacy. During periods of regeneration, the 2014 Q50 Hybrid is able to operate in full eco-mode.

When considering the perks of owning a hybrid vehicle, fuel economy is almost always at the top of the list—and for a good reason. However, what if we told you that you could experience the gas mileage of a hybrid and the performance of a sports sedan all at the same time? Sounds pretty tempting, does it not?
With 360 HP under the hood, this chestnut bronze 2014 INFINITI Q50 can sprint to 60 MPH in just 4.9 seconds. Earning an impressive 29 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway, it has what Auto Trader calls “authoritative acceleration.†This slick and efficient ride benefits from a gasoline V6 engine and a 50-kilowatt lithium-ion battery with two-clutch motor control (which accounts for its impressive quick dispatch capabilities).
Not only is it swift off the blocks, but it handles well under a variety of everyday circumstances. Speed-sensing steering technology makes working the wheel a breeze, whether you’re cruising down the highway or taking a slow turn at an intersection. Meanwhile, an independent suspension ensures that all four tires are on the ground at all times, and traction control instantly auto-adjusts torque ratios to prevent any power losses.
