In another giant leap towards the self-driving cars promised in our future, INFINITI delivers Active Lane Control to the new INFINITI Q50 and other models. While not fully self-ruling (yet!), this proprietary feature eliminates driver exhaustion, improves overall safety, and ensures an enjoyable ride, every time. Â
Utilizing a camera located on the front of the inside rear-view mirror, equipped vehicles are able to detect lane markings on the road ahead. With this information, it can autonomously make small force and steering adjustments to assist the driver. Not only does the ALC function help to prevent unintended drifting, but it can also account for minor road surface changes and be especially useful in dealing with crosswind situations.
To further impress, by reducing the need for operator inputs, the motorist’s effort will also likely be lessened. When fatigue is minimized — especially on longer commutes or journeys — riders can plan to arrive at their destination with less travel burnout.

Direct Adaptive Steering — available in the new INFINITI Q50, as well as other models — is a feature for the people. Utilizing incredible world’s-first technology, it allows you, the operator, to fully customize your commuting experience with three selectable modes. Depending on your mood, conditions on the road, or both; you can personalize effort and response by choosing either a Heavy, Standard, or Light setting.
The innovation is made possible by removing the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and tires and replacing it with an electronic wire system. This adjustment allows for instantaneous motorist input that can be digitally processed and adjusted up to 1,000 times per second.
This confidence-inspiring system is entirely unaffected by the kickback and forced movement on conventional columns. Instead, it gradually requires more effort with increased speeds and G-forces. The result is seamless acceleration, fluid turning, and stable road-holding around corners.
