Last year, it was with much excitement that INFINITI announced their partnership with Pirelli on Project Black S—a collaboration that aimed to explore the potential of introducing Formula One technology to road cars. Now, just a few short months later and the upgraded Q60 coupe is expected to undergo its first test rides as early as October.
What makes the Black S such a highly-anticipated development is not so much the dramatic and eye-catching appearance (though, it will undoubtedly turn heads), but rather the innovative inner-workings of what may be the most impressive hybrid to date.
Utilizing F1 mechanics, this new ride will be equipped with both a motor generator and a battery pack to produce greater power and torque on lag-free, instant acceleration. Though specific numbers have not yet been confirmed, according to Motor Trend, one should be able to expect about 500 HP from this neat little package.
If all goes well in testing and production is approved, then consumers may be able to get behind the wheel of this proprietary two-door as early as 2020.
