Subject: Friday Night Racing
(Posted on May 4, 2015 at 03:50PM by Peter Derviller)
Why do some people refer to themselves as FRIDAY NIGHTER'S?

Perhaps it has something to do with all the fun on FRIDAY NIGHTS (starts May 9th!)- chasing each other around the race course and coming ashore to trade stories (the occassional lie) and spend some time kicking off the weekend in style

We've got 7 MARTIN 244's ready to do battle each session of FRIDAY NIGHT RACING (FNR)

by the way - the only reason it's called racing is the boats are generally heading in the same direction - if you get too serious on FNR, we'll politely ask you to consider thursday nights at FCYC - and when more serious - WEDNESDAY night racing sailboats at the ROYAL VANCOUVER YACHT CLUB

CHILLAX - it's FNR!!

(Posted on Nov 10, 2014 at 04:18PM by Antoine)
JIB SET Sunday Sailing for winter 2014-2015 is an excellent opportunity to join other sailing enthusiasts for adventures on the water. We will meet at the JIB SET clubhouse at 12:30 and then head out to a fun afternoon in English Bay. Non-Jib Set members are welcome; no sailing experience is required for this event; see notes below...
Notes:
1) For non-JIB SET members only, a $50.00 one-time single event fee applies.
2) Drop-in fees are 100% refundable within the calendar year toward full JIB SET membership.
4) Free parking on Granville Island is limited to 3 hours so we recommend you park off-Island or in one of the pay parking lots.
3) Dress for the cool weather; we go rain or shine and we can supply rain gear. Bring non-marking, safe footwear with good traction - no open toes or slip-ons; raquetball/squash court shoes work well.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

CAMPING - perhaps you work to hard to pretend you are homeless?

DO NOT SLEEP IN THE DIRT AND GET EATEN BY BEARS ~ check out the optical illusion that is the MARTIN 244 sailboat ~ from outside, they look like little boats ~ when you climb inside you realize there is actually quite a bit of space in our fibreglass machines

if you are over 7' tall (well, if you're that tall, perhaps the NBA contract allows a bigger boat) don't consider this ~ but for those of more average stature, the 244 affords a reasonable berth size and the custom stove units, mediocre cushions (better than foamies, but not by much) and porta-potties cause a transformation from FRIDAY NIGHT RACING machine to POCKET CRUISER

but the magic of the pocket flotilla is the great people that you really can't get that far away from because the boat's only 24'10" long ~ discover the magic of great people in small spaces - and it's only two days - so suck it up buttercup - you're a SAILOR and you're not made of SUGAR!

POCKET FLOTILLA = camaradarie, seamanship and a bit of BOAT CAMPING- a spectacular alternative to traditional camping - with fewer BEARS for sure!
