Nissan Electric Vehicle News For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
If you have a craving for a new vehicle that combines technology with zero-emissions performance, a 2018 Nissan Leaf S should be at the top of your test driving list.

This EV eliminates the need for expensive gas station fill-ups since it’s powered by a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, boasting an EPA-rated range of 150 miles or 112 MPGe combined. The Leaf S also features a 110-kW AC synchronous electric motor, providing power to the front wheels and generating 147 horses and 236 lb-ft of torque.

Charging is managed by the 6.6-kW onboard charger, which takes approximately 40 minutes to refresh the battery to 80 percent when equipped with the 50-kW CHAdeMO DC fast charger. This is a huge improvement over previous models – now, in a 2018 Leaf, you experience less downtime and more emissions-free mileage.

What’s more, the next-gen Leaf offers improved technology, making it smarter than ever. As you motor around Seattle or the PNW, the Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC) system will automatically sense vehicles in front of you and adjust your speed accordingly. With Nissan’s ProPILOT, you also benefit from autonomous driving assistance since this tech is designed to keep your Leaf centered in the lane and always on track.

The future of driving has arrived in Seattle, Washington! To take a 2018 Leaf S for a spin, contact our team at Kirkland Nissan today.

If you stop and think about electric cars, the Nissan Leaf is likely to come to mind. Since its launch in 2011, this EV has become synonymous with plug-in, all-electric power, known for its affordable price point, nice driving dynamics and user-friendliness.

And aside from its whisper quiet operation, unique aerodynamic design and battery power, you’d think the Leaf is just like any other five-passenger compact hatchback. But, we promise: it’s so much more.

Take the 2014 Leaf SV for example. It’s powered by a lithium-ion battery pack mounted beneath the vehicle’s floor, which pumps out 107 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque from the 80kW motor. Energy is directed to the front wheels by a single-speed reduction gear, enabling the EV to go from 0-to-60-mph in 10 seconds flat with a top speed of 90 mph. It also features a 6.6 kW onboard charger and 220-volt line, which juices up the Leaf in just five hours – more than enough time to gain a full charge for the drive home while at the office. Total range per charge is an impressive 84 miles.

Inside, the SV trim is outfitted with many nice touches, like a 7-inch display, six speakers and navigation. There’s also a helpful rearview camera, Bluetooth wireless communication, and heated front and rear seats – all standard!

And, just this week, anticipation has grown even deeper after hearing news that the Leaf took top honors at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) annual Unveiled ceremony, which was presented by the Consumer Technology Association.

In fact, the 2018 Leaf didn’t receive one honor, but two, which cements what we have always known about this zero-emission vehicle – the Nissan Leaf is pioneering the way with innovative advancements that change how we lead our daily lives and lessen our carbon footprint.

At the CES, two Nissan technologies received recognition (ProPILOT Assist and e-Pedal technologies), earning the CES Best of Innovation Award Winner for Vehicle Intelligence and Self-Driving Technology, as well as the CES Honoree for Tech for a Better World. This is the 2018 Leaf’s first honors, but we expect many more to come.
