Does the idea of driving a vehicle with an alternative fuel source pique your interest? If so, a 2018 Nissan Leaf S might just be your next plug-in car. Known as the best-selling EV across the globe, the Leaf is super-efficient and boasts a longer range than previous model year options.

Under its aerodynamic exterior, the 2018 Leaf S is powered by a 40-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, which fuels the motor to create 147 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Combined, this allows the all-electric vehicle to operate a full 150 miles before needing to recharge, which is almost twice the distance as the first-gen model, which was unveiled seven years ago.

When it does come time to recharge, the 2018 Leaf uses a 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger that will have you up and running to 80 percent power in about 40 minutes when using a 50-kw CHAdeMO DC fast charger. However, with a 240-volt Level 2 station, charging time will increase to about 8 hours, which is considered average for the segment.

Curious to see how it handles on Seattle’s city streets? Contact our team at Kirkland Nissan for your test drive in the all-new 2018 Leaf today!
