Ranked as the #12 Compact Car by U.S. News and World Report, the 2011 Nissan Leaf SL was the first fully electric vehicle from a major automaker. As a pioneer, this nifty hatchback broke the mold for conventional travel and pole-vaulted driving into the future.
Powered by an 80-kilowatt motor coupled with a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the 2011 Leaf generates a surprising 107 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. It has a range of approximately 73 miles, which is the equivalent to about 99 mpg combined with a gasoline engine. To fully replenish the energy stores, you will need 4-8 hours of charging time.
The SL trim level includes 16-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, and a solar panel mounted on the back spoiler. The cabin is draped in partially recycled cloth upholstery, and both the driver’s seat and steering wheel are adjustable to suit your height. Pop in a CD, tune in to satellite radio, or hook your smartphone via the auxiliary jack to listen to music.
