2021 Dodge Charger R/T Boasts High V8 Fuel Economy Rating in Calgary, AB

When you think about the Dodge Charger, fuel efficiency probably isn’t the first thing to come to mind. However, the new 2021 R/T trim boasts the highest gasoline rating in the V8 lineup.

Housing a 5.7-litre HEMI engine, this particular model pushes out 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the multi-displacement system and variable valve timing technology, it gets about 14.7 L/100 km (19 mpg) in the city and 9.4 L/100 km (30 mpg) on the highway. You won’t find another V8-powered muscle car with numbers like these.

Mated with RWD for optimized control in sharp corners, the R/T can hit a top speed of 249 km/h (155 mph). While that is slower than the Scat Pack 392 and the SRT Hellcat, you get an even exchange by saving money at the pump.

The R/T trim also boasts an active exhaust system, which employs a pair of electronic valves situated toward the rear of the vehicle to control the output of the exhaust noise. These valves keep sound levels at a minimum when the engine is idling, but as soon as the pedal is put to the metal, the valves open up to release the Charger's fierce roar.
