Let us tell you, it feels good when a true legend returns, and after a nearly 25-year absence, Ford’s Bronco is back to serve as the iconic 4x4 utility vehicle the industry has been sorely lacking.
Ford revealed the highly anticipated 2021 Bronco lineup at their much-ballyhooed July 2020 broadcast on National Geographic, ESPN, and ABC. Now, Canadians throughout Penticton, B.C., and beyond have the opportunity to reserve their ownership of one (or more!) of these mighty machines.

Meet the 2021 Bronco
First released in 1966 and famous for its appearance at the 1969 Baja 1000 motorsport race, the Bronco is back in a two-door variant and, for the first time, a four-door model. While these machines carry forward the classic iconography, style cues, and peerless off-road capability of their predecessors, much has changed since 1996—and all for the better.
Go Further, Faster in the New Bronco
Live for speed? Need that rush of adrenaline every time you press down the pedal? Dying to move past, through, or over any barrier?
Great. Ford’s got you.
The new 2021 Bronco comes standard with a potent powertrain. It’s loaded with a 2.3L four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that thrills with 310 lb.-ft. of torque paired with 270 horsepower.
Want something even beefier? Prepare to have your expectations exceeded thanks to the available 2.7L EcoBoost V6, which is primed to electrify your senses with a planned 310 HP and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. And with the option of a segment-exclusive 7-speed manual transmission in tandem with an available automatic, you’ll be able to drive the way you want every time out on the trail.
G.O.A.T. Tackles Any Obstacle in B.C.
Engines and transmissions are massively important but they’re not the only piece of the puzzle. You can’t have a true trail-warrior machine on your hands without the latitude to mix things up on the fly, adapting to whatever the conditions call for. That’s why the Big Blue Oval has over-delivered with the integration of eight selectable driver modes, or what they refer to as G.O.A.T. ("Go Over Any Type of Terrain”).
Each of Baja, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl are specifically tuned for off-roading, with Rock Crawl engaging the onboard computers to make real-time decisions on the driver’s behalf, including locking the differentials, disengaging traction control, disconnecting the sway bar, and more.
The 4x4 System(s) You Always Dreamed Of
Why develop one fantastic 4x4 system when you can develop two?
Apparently, that was Ford’s thinking with the 2021 Bronco. As you whip around Penticton and tackle the trails of B.C. and Canada, you’ll be gifted the pleasure of doing so in one of two separate 4x4 systems.
The 2021 Bronco’s base 4x4 system leverages a two-speed, electronic shift, on-the-fly transfer case. By contrast, the available advanced 4x4 system raises the stakes via the use of a two-speed electromechanical transfer case, complete with an auto mode for on-demand engagement and 2H/4H selection.
Oh, did we mention these machines have a best-in-class 94.75:1 crawl ratio and the option for segment-exclusive 35-inch tires? That’s right—Ford ain’t playing around.
Wherever You Go, Go Boldly, Penticton
One of the niftiest aspects of the 2021 Bronco is its modular nature. Owners will be able to break down both the two-door and four-door models as they see fit. Want an open roof to feel the breeze? You got it. Not feeling doors on a particular day? No problem!
That’s right. Select models of the new Bronco support quick-swap doors that come with a fast-release mechanism—and they’re even stowable! The roof panels operate in a similar, no-muss, no-fuss fashion, ensuring you’re always ready to embrace the wild at a moment’s notice.

Segment-Best HP and Torque
The title says it all. The stylish Bronco Sport offers a heck of a ride, with a standard 1.5-liter three-cylinder and an available 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo. The former impresses with 181 HP and 190 lb-ft of torque, while the latter thrills with 245 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic is offered all around.
Oh, and those horsepower and torque numbers in the 2.0L four-banger? They represent best-in-class performance.
Class-Exclusive Milestones
Ford is truly setting the pace for the rest of the industry with the all-new 2021 Bronco Sport. “Class-exclusive” is going to be a phrase you come to know well over the coming months.
First up is Trail Control™ technology. This class-exclusive system bolsters off-road performance by enabling a cruise-control-style experience. You’ll be able to go up to 20 MPH forward and 6 MPH in reverse in semi-autonomous fashion—the vehicle will handle throttle and braking for you within this set range.
The twin-clutch rear-drive unit with differential lock architecture is unique within its class to the new Bronco Sport (First Edition and Badlands models only). There’s also cargo area to accommodate two 27.5-inch-wheel mountain bikes, more than 100 factory-backed accessories, and a safari-style roof. And yep, you guessed it—each feature is either class-exclusive or best-in-class.
Each of the four available trims of the 2021 Bronco Sport will be available later in 2020.
