If you expect power driven performance and versatility from your crossover SUV, then the 2021 Jeep Cherokee is a no-brainer. Considering its competitor, the 2021 Nissan Rogue, may lead to some head scratching, though.Â
The Rogue’s single powertrain, a noisy 2.5L, is neck and neck with the Cherokee’s base 2.4L, with the two cars producing 181 hp and 180 hp, respectively.
Engine offerings for this Jeep continue with a 2.0L turbo, which presents drivers with a whopping 270 hp. The final option, a 3.2L Pentastar V6 powertrain (packing 271 hp), enables the Cherokee to pull up to 2,041 kg. That’s more than triple the Rogue’s max towing capacity of 612 kg.
The Cherokee’s available Active Drive 4x4 System allows the crossover SUV to automatically initiate 4WD mode should you come across any slippery or loose surfaces. Rogue owners who encounter rough terrain will have to cross their fingers that its underperforming AWD is up to the task.
