PETER & CATHY had their THREE HOUR CRUISE with CAPTAIN NIGEL ~ we're just so pleased that they didn't become 'castaways'

~ both avid sailors, PETER said he thinks the "DARK SIDE" is great & CATHY was totally amazed with NIGEL's handling of the boat in very tight quarters ~

~ EVERY boat has a STORY: NETTA JEAN  ~

We believe that boats are people too.  We name them, care for them & get REALLY attached. For those of us crazy enough to believe it, boats are alive and they all have a story to tell.

Today, let's consider NETTA JEAN, the SILVERTON 34 recently added to the COOPER FLEET.   Be sure to enter to win a 3 hour cruise if you can make it this SUNDAY.

Did you know that ships are named with female names to protect sailors as they head to sea, not unlike how their actual mothers protected them in younger years?  Well, NETTA JEAN is named for the owner's mother.  While his father had introduced young Evan to the water & sparked a passion for exploring and adventuring on the water.  You see, Evan's dad built small boats, including a Fireball sailing dinghy named KALALA (butterfly).  Sadly, his mother's battle with MS began & curtailed all the boating adventures.   Caring for family trumps boating holidays & Evan's mom could simply not partake.

This year, Evan bought the boat and named if for his late mother.  Enter an opportunity to pickup where those early adventures left off.  So, if you're healthy, why not get a good dose of 'happy' with your own ocean playground exploration?

NETTA JEAN is seaworthy - she's been tested in some pretty big swells.  As with many boats we offer, we know the boat will take more than the crew will want to.

She's also is the perfect platform for fishing or snorkeling, with her cockpit low to the water.  I joined Evan as he finished up installation of a second down rigger.  The boat also has crab traps & a great tender with electric davit, making life easy for newly minted 'Pleasure Craft Operator Card carrying kids'.  The boat also has a couple of walkie talkies to connect with them during micro-exploration of quaint harbours.

If you're heading out for longer, there are a few kayaks that can appear & add to your enjoyment - be sure to request those early to ensure we can make that happen.

From atop the vessel the flybridge one has an excellent view.   This boat is capable of some great speed (as much as 25). Those extra few knots will cost more of course, but having some speed capability also translates to additional safety if someone needs to get ashore in a hurry or bad weather is approaching.   Cruising around 17 knots uses about $55/hour in fuel at today's diesel prices.
