Reading the laundry list of specs accompanying new vehicles can be overwhelming to say the least. Have you ever wondered what some of the complicated terms might mean? For instance, what exactly is brake assist?
Brake assist is actually just what it sounds like. It is an active vehicle safety feature designed to help drivers come to a stop more quickly during an emergency. It works by being able to predict panic or hurried efforts to halt the car and helps to apply extra pressure to cut the speed to zero miles an hour.
The 2018 INFINITI QX30 has a number of amazing features like brake assist that make it a safe bet. For instance, a front and rear anti-roll bar, part of the vehicle’s suspension, helps stabilize it and keep it from tipping over. In addition, a variety of airbags, including one at knee-level and another that senses occupant size, offer peace of mind, no matter the circumstances.
In addition, the QX30 features a panic alarm and a security system to keep your vehicle and belongings safe. A low tire pressure warning means you won’t ever have to worry about being caught off guard.
Stop by INFINITI of Tacoma today and test drive the fantastic QX30. From brake assist to its variety of other safety features, you will always feel secure in this great vehicle!

You may have noticed that many vehicles in our luxury lineup — such as the 2018 INFINITI QX30 — possess turbocharged engines or, colloquially referred to as “turbo†for short. And if you’re anything like me, you may have assumed that that’s just a decorative descriptor word added to the nomenclature in order to make the ride sound exceptionally fast.
However, it turns out that a turbocharger is actually a legitimate motor device used to increase an internal combustion unit’s efficiency and energy output.Â
Â
Powered by an exhaust-driven turbine, the turbocharger compresses and forces extra air into the combustion chamber. By squeezing more oxygen into a cylinder, it means that more fuel can also be added. The result is a more significant production of force and dynamic HP. Not bad, right?
So, the next time you see that fancy familiar feature used on a spec sheet, you might be more inclined to take the respective ride for a spin.Â

More than likely, you have noticed a secondary gauge in your instrument panel, accompanying your speedometer. Often less considered, because nobody’s ever been handed a ticket for exceeding the RPM limit, the tachometer is used to mark Revolutions Per Minute.
RPM is a measure of rotational frequency, and it is applied to count the number of circles around a fixed axis in a single minute. Specifically, in a vehicle, it tracks how many times the engine’s crankshaft makes a full orbit every 60 seconds.
As you press down on the accelerator pedal, you’ll notice the dial on your tachometer moves as power is generated. However, it’s important to note that the engine doesn’t necessarily produce maximum HP at its peak RPM. In fact, hitting the red zone on your tachometer can often be detrimental to your powertrain — especially if you’re operating a manual transmission.
