If you are looking to green-up your commute by switching to an affordable plug-in powered vehicle, a 2015 Nissan Leaf S doesn’t get any better. This best-selling preowned EV runs on 100% electricity and produces zero emissions, costing you only pennies-per-mile to charge.
Â
Â
Under its slick aerodynamic design, the 2015 Leaf is energized by a 24-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, which sends electricity to an 80-kW electric motor that drives the front wheels. Combined, this creates a healthy 107 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque for a total range of 84 miles.
Â
The S trim comes equipped with a standard 3.3-kW charger, which takes about eight hours to fully refresh using a 240-volt Level 2 plug-in station. According to The Car Connection, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1 to $8 for a full charge, depending on your local electricity rates. Compared to gasoline vehicles, which cost approximately $16 in fuel for every 100 miles driven, this equates to significant savings over the life of the EV, as well as immense environmental benefits from the Leaf’s zero emissions performance.
