If you’ve been skeptical about the drivability and range offered by an all-electric vehicle, consider giving the 2016 Nissan Leaf SL a try. This eco-friendly option is fully battery powered and boasts a 107-mile range, which is more than adequate for commuting or booting around Seattle, Washington.
Â
Â
Under its stylish exterior design lies an 80-kW motor, which generates power from the Leaf’s 30 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined, this allows the EV to deliver 107 horsepower and 187 lb of torque, and it can reach 60 mph in just 10.2 seconds flat.Â
Â
Charging is managed by the Leaf SL’s quick-charge port, which comes standard and can be used with a high-power station to recharge the battery to 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes. However, if you are charging at home, the 6.6 kW charger and 30kWh battery take about five hours, which is reasonable for most drivers.
Â
And seeing that the SL is a top-level trim, Nissan didn’t skimp on the details. Automatic headlights, foglights and a solar panel for efficient device charging are all included, as is leather upholstery, heated seats (even in the rear), and a cargo cover to keep your purchases secure.
