Craving a more fuel-friendly and affordable commuter? Slip into a 2012 Nissan Leaf SL! This all-electric four-door hatchback runs solely on plug-in energy, allowing you to say goodbye to gas station visits, while enjoying favorable performance on Seattle’s roads.
Â
Powered by an 80-kilowatt electric motor and a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the 2012 Leaf puts out an easy 107 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. On a full charge, you’ll be able to drive for 73 miles, which equates to an energy efficiency equivalent rating (MPGe) of 106 mpg city and 92 mpg highway. You’d be hard-pressed to find a gas-powered engine that thrifty! Acceleration on this model is quite decent too, needing only 10 seconds to reach speeds of 60 mph from a stop.Â
Â
To help you track your range and battery capacity, the Leaf comes standard with a remote vehicle access system called Nissan Connect. Other tech inclusions boast an advanced trip computer and a navigation system, as well as a rearview camera and Bluetooth connectivity. All this rides on 16-inch alloy wheels, which are complemented by LED headlamps, heated exterior mirrors, and keyless ignition/entry. Inside the cabin, the supportive seats are covered in cloth upholstery made from recycled materials, which further adds to the EV’s eco-friendly appeal.
