The Nissan Leaf is an all-electric vehicle that has won the world over with its zero-emissions performance, affordable purchase price and comfortable interior. It's the vehicle that made EV powertrains accessible to the masses, allowing Seattle drivers to go farther on less. With no gas costs to worry about or range anxieties to quell, it remains a popular option in the preowned market - here and around the globe.
Â
Take the 2016 Nissan Leaf SV as an example. This model is powered by a 30-kWh lithium-ion battery that sends electricity to an 80-kw electric motor, producing 107 horses and 187 lb-ft of torque. On a single charge, you can expect a 107-mile range at a jaw-dropping 112 MPGe. According to The Car Connection, that works out to just $3 based on the average U.S. electricity rate of 12 cents per kilowatt-hour. And it won't take you a long time to juice up the Leaf SV. It comes equipped with a 6.6-kw onboard charger that can refresh a fully depleted battery in about four hours from a 240-volt level two charging station.
Â
What's more, the 2016 Leaf also comes very well-outfitted for the price. The SV trim boasts heated front seats, as well as comfortable upholstery made from recycled soda bottles. It also includes power door mirrors, chrome door handles, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a tailgate air deflector to reduce energy use at higher speeds. The central touchscreen on the SV is also larger (7.0 inches), and it includes navigation as standard along with Nissan Connect.
