It’s a tradition of V8 power. For years the Mustang has boasted a 5.0L block, which paired aluminum construction with direct-acting mechanical buckets - and this has led to segment domination.
With a new year comes an equally new standard, however.
The 2021 Mustang Mach-E Select will shed its V8 past and emerge as an all-electric performer. Housed beneath its hood is an advanced 68-kWh battery suite, which utilizes 28.8 lithium-ion cells to deliver peerless capability. This system - which boasts 120-volt, 240-volt, and DC Fast Charge compatibility - has been tailored to impress.
When fully charged it will yield a standard drive-range of 355-kilometres. This is achieved through regenerative braking functionality (which converts otherwise unused energy into power, cycling it back through the battery) and a single-speed transmission (which promotes crisper torque responses, eliminating downshifting and costly lag). This - when paired with an RWD that affords more fluid handling - allows the new Mustang to dominate on the highway or the backroads.
The value of an all-electric vehicle can’t be denied - with emission-free performance pairing with economical drive-ranges. BC families will spend their time on the road, not searching for a fuel station.
Too often, however, are these advantages compromised by weak metrics - with drivers forced to sacrifice fun for function.
The new Mustang Mach-E Select shatters that tradition.
This platform promises exhilarating outputs - achieving up to 266 HP (RWD/AWD) and 428 lb.-ft of torque (AWD). It fuses its extended range with an enhanced power-band, launching from 0 to 60 in approximately six seconds (5.8, RWD; 5.2 AWD); and this allows drivers to experience the pony performance they’ve come to expect.
To further enhance each ride Ford has paired the Mach-E Select with a seamless suspension system - utilizing an independent MacPherson strut at the front and anchoring the rear with both a multi-link configuration and a stabilizer bar. This assures smooth articulation, with the athletic wheelbase (4,713-mm in length, 1,881-mm in width, and 1,625-mm in height) boasting a balanced stance. This is additionally improved by the inclusion of electric-assisted steering, which promotes refined responses on every turn.
This is no mere show-pony. It’s instead ready for the roughest rides.
The promise of a battery-powered pony-car has left BC drivers bemused. They remain unsure if this platform will prove a worthy successor to the V8 beasts that came before it.
Ford is certain, however, that any doubt will disappear once the new Mustang Select revs out of the corral. Sitting on 18-inch carbonized grey aluminum wheels, this ride will leave drivers impressed. 225/55919 all-season tires shred the pavement, offering wide treads and a rugged stance; while LED reflector headlamps flank the sharp curve of the fenders. The scooped hood rolls into a laminated-glass windshield; and a black mesh skirt sits beneath the seamless one-piece grille (which is anchored by the signature pony emblem).
All of this is then paired with a dynamic selection of colours:
Fascia
Iconic Silver.
Rapid Red.
Star White.
Space White.
Carbonized Grey.
Infinite Blue.
Shadow Black.

The new Mustang will delight from every angle - proving that electric performance offers more than efficiency.
