Hybrid performance has driven every F-150 conversation - with BC critics debating battery-powered capabilities and electric motor strength. Ford is quick to note, however, that its 2021 pick-up offers more than one engine suite; and the available 2.7 EcoBoost will thrill V6 fans.
Offered on the 2021 F-150 is a 2.7L EcoBoost. This block - which is crafted from compacted graphite iron - emphasizes everyday performance. Its potent powerband produces up to 325 HP (at 5,000 RPMs) and 400 lb.-ft of torque (at 3,000 RPMs); while its electronic 10-speed automatic transmission affords superior control, with wide gear spacings and drag-reduction capabilities allowing the truck to move fluidly. Conquer payloads with ease, courtesy of this V6 and its roller finger follower configuration (which improves cam responses).
The 2021 F-150 offers more than strength, however. It also delivers efficiency - with Ford pairing it with both port-injection and direct-injection capabilities. This maximizes resource distribution, allowing the engine to achieve an estimated 9.8 L/100km on the BC highway.
